Hello, Hivers. Within the bands, groups or ensembles have always drawn attention to instruments with high frequencies, such as violin or guitar, which generally are the most striking instruments, but in this section of my blog, I will focus mostly on great bassists famous for their career or those new talents of these new times. El bajo eléctrico por lo general no es un instrumento muy llamativo para muchos, además los grandes rockstar siempre son los guitarristas o vocalistas, pero aunque no lo parezca, el bajo y el bajista juegan un roll sumamente importante, donde en muchos casos el eje central de los temas musicales lo lleva el bajo y por lo general quienes crean las bandas son los bajistas o son los productores. Un bajista mayormente conocido por tocar dos bajos al mismo tiempo en muchas de sus presentaciones, obviamente haciendo el uso de la técnica del Tapping “Michael Manring” es conocido también por ser un ejecutante exclusivo del bajo y un defensor acérrimo de la marca Zon que fabrica bajos de gama alta. Michael Manring, is an American bassist born in 1960, who since very young dedicated his life to the study of music and consequently to be an exclusive performer of the electric bass, is known for being one of the outstanding students of the great Jaco Pastorius, who was his teacher of electric bass and from whom he learned many of the techniques and styles, developing a great virtue within the world of music and bass players. Over time Michael became known as one of the most sought after session bassists for certain artists, and he did this while playing in many other groups of various genres. He continues to play in jazz, rock and fusion bands of many other genres.
Michael Manring, es un bajista norteamericano nacido en 1960, que desde muy joven dedicó su vida al estudio de la música y en consiguiente a ser ejecutante exclusivo del bajo eléctrico, es conocido por ser uno de los estudiantes destacados del gran Jaco Pastorius, quien fue su profesor de bajo eléctrico y de quien aprendió muchas de las técnicas y estilos, desarrollando una gran virtud dentro del mundo de la música y de los ejecutantes de bajos. Con el tiempo Michael se dio a conocer como uno de los bajistas de sesión más solicitados para ciertos artistas, además esto lo realizaba mientras participaba en muchas otras agrupaciones de varios géneros. Actualmente sigue tocando en bandas de jazz, rock y fusión de muchos otros géneros.
1. Techniques used by Michael Manring.
To talk about technique is to talk about "Michael Manring" because he is a very careful advocate of technique and that developing a good bass playing technique is fundamental and most important as a performer. Known for an excellent precision and metric, a human metronome, he always keeps time to perfection. One of the techniques learned by this bassist was taught by Jaco Pastorius, which mixes the ascending and descending movement of the pentatonic or modal scales by moving up and down the scale with speed and elegance.
Hablar de técnica es hablar de “Michael Manring” debido a que este es un muy cuidadoso defensor de la técnica y que desarrollar una buena técnica para tocar el bajo es fundamental y lo más importante como ejecutante. Conocido por una precisión y métrica excelente, un metrónomo humano, mantiene el tiempo siempre a perfección. Una de las técnicas aprendidas por este bajista fue la enseñada por jaco pastorius, que mezcla el movimiento ascendente y descendente de las escalas pentatónicas o modales subiendo y bajando en la escala con velocidad y elegancia.
