Within the bands, groups or ensembles have always drawn attention to instruments with high frequencies, such as violin or guitar, which generally are the most striking instruments, but in this section of my blog, I will focus mostly on great bassists famous for their career or those new talents of these new times. El bajo eléctrico por lo general no es un instrumento muy llamativo para muchos, además los grandes rockstar siempre son los guitarristas o vocalistas, pero aunque no lo parezca, el bajo y el bajista juegan un rol sumamente importante, donde en muchos casos el eje central de los temas musicales lo lleva el bajo y por lo general quienes crean las bandas son los bajistas o son los productores. Conocido por perfeccionar y ser un pilar fundamental, en técnica a dedos del funk y en la forma de tocar el bajo eléctrico moderno “Francis (Rocco) Prestia”, fue uno de los mayores representantes del funk y uno de los de mayor influencia del bajo eléctrico junto con James Jamerson, Stanley Clarke, Anthony Jackson (que ya tienen su post en mi blog). Es reconocido por ser el bajista de Tower of Power, una banda de funk que ha sido por más de treinta años una de las que ha llevado el género a otras dimensiones, siendo también la referencia de muchas bandas de funk actuales.

"Francis (Rocco) Prestia", was a bass player born in 1951, in the state of California - United States, who began his first steps in music just in his teens playing the guitar, they tell as an anecdote that who suggested to Rocco to play the bass, He practiced with a lot of effort, with time he was raising his level in execution until he applied other methods such as Pastorius' own techniques and vice versa, at that time they were influenced by his styles. When Emilio Castillo decided to create Tower of Power, he called his friend Rocco and immediately achieved a mythical connection with the drummer and thus arose what became known as one of the best funk duos. At the beginning of the 2000's he suffered a strong illness that led him to a liver transplant but strong complications in mid 2020 he was hospitalized and a few months later he died of complications.
“Francis (Rocco) Prestia”, fue un bajista nacido en 1951, en el estado de california – estados Unidos, que empezó sus primeros pasos en la música apenas en su adolescencia tocando la guitarra, cuentan como anécdota que quien le sugirió a rocco que tocara el bajo, fue el líder de “Tower of Power” Emilio Catillo y desde entonces le tomó la palabra, practicando con mucho empeño, con el tiempo fue elevando su nivel en ejecución hasta aplicar otros métodos como técnicas del propio pastorius y viceversa, en ese entonces se veían influenciados por sus estilos. Cuando Emilio Castillo, decidió crear Tower of Power llama a su amigo rocco e inmediatamente logró una mítica conexión con el baterista y asé surgió lo que se conoció como una de las mejores duplas del funk. A principio de los 2000´s sufrió una fuerte enfermedad que lo llevó a un trasplante de hígado pero fuertes complicaciones a mediados del año 2020 es hospitalizado y a los pocos meses fallece por complicaciones.
