Hello, Hivers. Within the bands, groups or ensembles have always drawn attention to instruments with high frequencies, such as violin or guitar, which generally are the most striking instruments, but in this section of my blog, I will focus mostly on great bassists famous for their career or those new talents of these new times. The electric bass usually is not a very striking instrument for many, besides the great rockstars are always the guitarists or vocalists, but although it may not seem so, the bass and the bassist play an extremely important role, where in many cases the central axis of the musical themes is carried by the bass and usually those who create the bands are the bassists or are the producers. Among the best known bassists is "Melissa Auf der Maur" who has been part of great bands like "Hole" or when the absence of "D'arcy Wretzky" occurred in the 2000's, she belonged to the band "The Smashing Pumpkins". Dentro de las bandas, agrupaciones o ensambles siempre han llamado la atención los instrumentos con frecuencias altas, como el violín o la guitarra, que por lo general son los instrumentos más llamativos, pero en esta sección de mi blog, me centraré en su gran mayoría en grandes bajistas famosos por su trayectoria o esos nuevos talentos de estos nuevos tiempos. El bajo eléctrico por lo general no es un instrumento muy llamativo para muchos, además los grandes rockstar siempre son los guitarristas o vocalistas, pero aunque no lo parezca, el bajo y el bajista juegan un rol sumamente importante, donde en muchos casos el eje central de los temas musicales lo lleva el bajo y por lo general quienes crean las bandas son los bajistas o son los productores. Entre las bajistas más conocidas está “Melissa Auf der Maur” quien ha formado parte de grandes bandas como “Hole “ o cuando la ausencia de “D'arcy Wretzky” se dio en los 2000´s, perteneció a la banda “The Smashing Pumpkins.” Aunque siempre ha estado un mayor tiempo como solista siendo la vocalista principal y bajista. Ella ha colaborado con diversos artistas entre ellos “Ryan Adams” tocando y cantando, dándole esto gran versatilidad y reconocimiento en el medio musical.

"Melissa Auf der Maur is a Canadian bass player, born in 1972 in Montreal, spending some time in Kenya with her mother and returning to Montreal where she became passionate about photography and music. From a young age she learned to play the guitar but she was inclined to play the bass, it is here in her late teens when she started playing with some local bands until "Curtney Love" vocalist of "Hole" by recommendation integrates her into his band in 1994 and from there began a remarkable career as a musician. In the late 90's and after the departure of the bassist of "The Smashing Pumpkins" she was invited to play with them on tour and even appeared in several of the band's videos. As a solo artist Melissa has made several recordings and has had moderate success in the music industry and is recognized by many for her character on stage and as a person.
“Melissa Auf der Maur” es una bajista canadiense, nacida en 1972 en Montreal, pasando una temporada en Kenia con su madre y volviendo a Montreal donde se apasionó por la fotografía y la música. Desde joven aprendió a tocar la guitarra pero se inclinó por el bajo, es acá a finales de su adolescencia cuando empezó a tocar con algunas bandas locales hasta que “Curtney Love” vocalista de “Hole” por recomendación la integra a su banda en 1994 y desde ahí empezó una notable carrera como músico. A finales de los 90´s y luego de la salida de la bajista de “The Smashing Pumpkins” fue invitada a tocar con ellos en una gira e incluso apareció en varios de los videos de la banda. En solitario Melissa ha realizado varias grabaciones teniendo un moderado éxito en el medio musical y reconocida por muchos por su carácter en tarima y como persona.

Regarding her technique, Melissa had a self-taught musical education focusing on grung and rock, which is why her playing is linked to these genres, besides having a warm voice that in her solo projects matches while playing her bass.
Respecto a su técnica, Melissa tuvo una educación musical autodidacta centrándose en el grung y rock, es por esto que su forma de tocar está ligada a estos géneros, además de poseer una cálida voz que en sus proyectos en solitario hace juego mientras toca su bajo.
