MUSIC A to Z Challenge #P PIXIES and PINK FLOYD

Here is my entry for @psos music challenge, today i'm on bands or songs starting with the letter P.

So yesterday here in my part of the Philippines we had a total failure of the introweb and after many tries I gave up on posting. Now we are up and running again it's time to get back on the treadmill.

Today I have reached the letter P in this challenge, with so many bands beginning with this letter again it will be a struggle to narrow it down to two. Pixies were and still are one of my favorite bands I was always gutted I never got to see them in their prime. Frank Black (one of his many names) is a great frontman he along with Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal(bass, backing vocals) and  David Lovering  (drums) made up the original line up. I finally got to see them in the UK at the Eden project in Cornwall, it's a great venue in a small natural amphitheater, by this time Kim Deal had left the band again and Paz Lenchantin had replaced her, I was disappointed that Deal wasn't in the line up but on the night was pleasantly surprised by how good Paz was, she is a great bassist and her backing vocals were bang on. Often when you see a band this many years on from your perceived hay day they can be a let down but they were amazing and to see them in a small venue added to the event. Pixies "where is my mind"

It has to be Pink Floyd as my second choice, one of the greatest bands to have walked the planet. To think these guys were in their late teens when they got the show on the road and by their twenties had produced the best album of all time is nuts. When I think about what is passed off as musical talent today it's a bit of a joke. OK there are some pearls out there but generally modern artists are getting away with producing songs as interesting as porridge. These guys from the get go were knocking out amazing sounds and clearly worked at developing their talent.

Floyd for me were my gateway to the weekend, for a long period myself and a bunch of friends would meet up at dirty Jill's house of a Friday night and partake in a evening of psychedelia and herbal intake and all Jill asked for accommodating us every week was for Eugene our friend to bury his axe with her by all accounts he was careful with it, (little joke there for Floyd fans). I can't come up with one tune so here's a hour plus of live to sink your teeth into, just sit back and chill.

Sorry no room for all these bands and many more,

Panic! At the Disco, Papa Roach, Parliament, Pavement, Pearl Jam, Pennywise,  A Perfect Circle, Placebo, The Pogues,  Portishead, The Presidents of the USA, The Pretenders, Primal Scream, Primus, The Prodigy, Propellerheads, The Psychedelic Furs, Public Enemy, Public Image Ltd, Puddle of Mudd and Pulp.

That's me done i'm off to see if Jill is at home:) see you all tomorrow.
