Hoy les traigo mi interpretación de uno de los solos de oboe en una de las sinfonías más afamadas de todas.

Today I bring to you my performance of one of the solos for oboe in one of the most famous symphonies ever.

La Sinfonía n.º 10 en mi menor (op. 93) fue compuesta por Dmitri Shostakóvich y estrenada por la Orquesta Filarmónica de Leningrado bajo la batuta de Yevgeni Mravinski el 17 de diciembre de 1953.

Symphony n.º 10 in E minor (op.93) was written by Dmitri Shostakovich and released for Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Yevgeni Mravinski on december 17th of 1953.

No hay certeza de cuándo fue compuesta. De acuerdo con las cartas del compositor, la obra se escribió entre julio y octubre de 1953, pero algunos afirman que fue completada en 1951.

It is unknown when it was written. According to the composer's letters, the work was written between july and october of 1953, but some people affirm that it was completed in 1951.

Actualmente es uno de los trabajos más populares del compositor y en Venezuela solemos interpretarla a menudo.

Currently is one of the most popular works of the composer and we use to play it very often in Venezuela.

Desde pequeño es una obra que tenía que tocar en diferentes audiciones, pero no fue hasta principios de 2018 que tuve la oportunidad de tocarla en orquesta.

Since I was a child this is a work that I had to play in different competitions, but it was not until early 2018 that I got the opportunity to play it with an orchestra.

En aquella ocasión tuve la oportunidad de interpretarla junto a la Orquesta Sinfónica Juan José Landaeta, cuya orquesta es una unión de mi antigua orquesta, la Sinfónica de Caracas y la Sinfónica Teresa Carreño.

That time I had the opportunity to play with along with Juan José Landaeta Symphony Orchestra, whose orchestra is an old union of Caracas Symphony Orchestra and Teresa Carreño Symphony Orchestra.

Ya yo formaba parte de mi actual orquesta, la Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela pero participé como invitado.

I already belonged to my current orchestra, Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, but I participated as a guess.

Dicha sinfonía tiene un solo de oboe muy importante en el cual el ambiente es muy sombrío y de total soledad. Este parte de los contrabajos tocando lo mas suave posible en lo que a volúmen se refiere y ya este instrumento de por si casi no se escucha, jajaja.

The mentioned symphony has a very important oboe solo in which the atmosphere is very gloomy and of absolute loneliness. This is born from the bass playing as smooth as possible in terms of volume and well, since this instrument can not be heard, hahaha.

Por esos motivos, (además de la dificultad del mismo) el solo suele causar un poco de nervios al intérprete. Sin embargo recuerdo que lo disfrute mucho y así sonó:

For these reasons, (besides the difficulty of it) the solo uses to provoke nervous to the player. However, I remember that I enjoyed a lot, and this is how it sounded:

1 año más tarde tuve la oportunidad de volver a tocarla pero en esta ocasión, con mi orquesta lo cual me hacía sentir más responsabilidad y también ganas de hacerlo mucho mejor que la vez anterior.

One year later I had the chance to play it again but this time with my orchestra, which made me feel more responsibility and more desire to do it better than the last time.

A lo largo de mi carrera como oboísta he tenido la oportunidad de hacer una gran cantidad de solos dentro de la orquesta y siempre descubro cosas nuevas que hacer y mejorar así haya tocado la misma música 50 veces, y esto es lo genial de la música, nunca paras de aprender y crecer.

Throughout my career as an oboist I have had the opportunity to play many solos with the orchestra and I always discover new things to do and improve even though I have played the same music 50 times, and this is the nice thing about music, you never stop learning and growing.
