My Actifit Report Card: February 19 2021
I did not do too many steps today, it was another half rainy day. I did manage to take Doggie out for his walk. I also paced around the house and did a bit of shopping.

The new earbuds are really working out nicely. I really like the sound and they shut out just enough of reality (with noise canceling sound, lol) to put me in a very happy place. If you have not tried any out I would recommend getting some.
I've been thinking a bit about what it means to be alive in the universe. As a human it seems odd that we see nothing else out there on other planets that we recognize as life.
Some had reasoned that any advanced civilization would burn out their resources and destroy their planet before we could detect them. Or perhaps they are hiding from us as to not disturb our development.
I think we are just not at the level where we can detect them. Perhaps our technology or consciousness is just too primitive to really be aware of what else is out there. Perhaps the universe is teaming with life and we are almost at the level where we can recognize it and be recognized as such.
The telegraph as a way of communication was not so very long ago. It boggles my mind to think about where we will be soon as a species. I hardly think we will be communicating in the same way we are now in another hundred years.

I think a new set of communication tools have to be created to get in contact with other life forms on other planets. The ones we have now are not suitable for really long distances.

BEER.Yeah one of the biggest regrets to me is not to be able to see the developments in the next 100 years. I feel there is life out there. The issue is that the universe is just simply so large it is hard to get anywhere lol. Of course as Hawking said perhaps it is better if we are not discovered:

Interesting thoughts. I enjoy thinking about it all the time.
I think that if we get over our economic, social and environmental issues, many of us will have a good chance to see the next hundred years or more. Technology keeps advancing on many fronts and there have been a lot of advancements in our understanding of the causes of aging.
I think we will have to become "nice people" as a global community if we have any chance of continued survival. Any advanced civilization that goes beyond our present technology will probably need to become "nice people" too. Thus I'm not particularly worried about any encounter with them.
Yes I see your point. Either we become nice or we self destruct I suppose. I hope mankind can do. I am not sure if we can though.
