My Actifit Report Card: December 18 2020
My son and I played one short nine basket round of disc golf today. There was a lot going on with the flooring so we were kind of rushed to get back home. It was windy and wet and we both did not have the greatest round. It is always fun to get out and play and the new discs were fun to throw though.
Doggie got his usual walk but I would not let him play in the pond because it would be difficult to have him get all muddy.
The flooring project has hit some slight issues.
Almost each and every board has an odd discoloration on one end:
The new flooring was partially installed but they stopped installation when they discovered an odd discoloration on almost all the boards. It is just on one end and only greatly visible under certain lighting. Once you see it you can see it pretty clearly when you look for it.
It is not the same on all boards and varies a lot in how visible it is. There is only one lot of the material so it is probably the same problem on all the current stock. A new lot of material could take months to get.
It is probably just a cosmetic problem but once it has been detected the warranty is void if we decide to keep the flooring. Probably the supplier will not offer much of a discount because they will want to return it to the manufacturer to get a refund.
Not having a warranty could be an issue if it is a problem that causes the flooring to delaminate or have some other issue. Perhaps the coating is not applied properly in this area - I just don't know.
The store we ordered it from has been great about dealing with this and other issues. They have agreed to install this flooring temporarily and put in a new floor when another lot becomes available.
I guess I'm not sure how big a deal it is or if it would be something that could become a bigger problem in a few years.

Well anymore everything costs top dollar in my book...therefore seeing as we pay for it, it should be proper. It could be only cosmetic, but I still would probably not take it. You have to think about perhaps having to sell one day, who knows?
Yes, it is the fact that the warranty is gone that makes it a difficult decision. If the coating is damaged enough on the ends to allow moisture to get in or cause some other issue that only shows up after a few years it could become something more aggravating that I would need to live with.

What a pain in the hiney !
I love the color in general though. My landlord put new flooring in this house before I moved in. It is similar to this only much darker. The floor in general looked nice, but I don't like how dark it is. There is wood moldings and chair rails all over the house and I respect real wood, but close up you can see more than one color in it. I wish they had gone with the lighter of the colors in the wood instead of the darker.
I know wah wah wah .... all new floors.....LOL ! ...but still
Nice of then to go ahead and put it in to hold you till the new gets there. They need to inspect it before time to install though.
The color is really nice and I love the way it looks. I think that with the darker cloudy sky around here it is nice to have a lighter colored floor.
I can see how it would be easy to miss in inspection because of the fact that it is only on one end. I hope that the factory can correct the issue.
