The mundane little things - Actifit Report: March 31 2020

I remember thinking as I went out on my walk this evening that beauty is everywhere, and that even when the world has been turned on its head and we don’t know what tomorrow will bring, there is the joy of simplicity - the beauty of mundane little things - like coming upon a pink house.

Do you ever yearn or grieve for the photographs you did not take? It happens to me a lot. But I’m afraid of taking photographs of people I see out and about, for fear that they will be offended. So I will tell you about them.

Fir some reason I saw about three people in bright red — separately — at different places along my walk. I was just strolling through the suburban area near my house and there on a bright early spring afternoon was a man in a fire engine red shirt walking along on the other side of the street. A few minutes later I passed a home where a man was standing in his open garage — also in a fire engine red shirt — lifting free weights. Oh I wanted that picture! I almost called out to ask him! But how weird would that be? “Hey you in the red shirt, can I take your picture?” It would have been terrific! And he was really pressing some enormous weights!

I can’t remember the third one because I was so distracted by walking through a virtual ghost town and seeing all these people in bright red. What is up with that? But that’s not all. The next thing I saw was a woman sitting out in the sun on her front porch talking on the phone wearing a jade green too.

What are the chances? I couldn’t believe I kept seeing all these people in bright colors amidst all the browns of late winter.

Other than that, I noticed the lawns are turning green. All it takes is a few weeks of slightly warmer weather and some rain.

I didn’t take a ton of pictures, but here was the hill I hiked up on my way home. I thought it had a sort of wistful, inviting look.

And I randomly photographed a bit of a retaining wall.
