Snowboarding and sunburn

Kanin is a ski resort above Bovec in Slovenia. Yesterday it made history, sort of.

The first sports national championships after the lockdown were held. Snowboarding and free style skiing big air Slovenian national championships.

Despite summer temperatures kickers were prepared excellently by an experienced crew of shapers.

Everybody was super happy to be finally together doing the things they love.

I don't have any action photos to show since it's all on the video camera. I'll post some videos when I find time to edit them.

I was super proud as a father of a winner in the U12 boys category

We are not used to high mountains sun on the snow so the result, apart from everyone being satisfied, was the sunburn.

Excellent and congrats on your son winning! Nice 12240 @actifit steps as well! I used to live at 8000 feet in elevation and the sun does do a number on you. I've seen folks with sunburned eyes as well, where the whites are actually red. Please wear adequate sunglasses protection as you can't undo the damage that can occur. I'm an optician by trade, so I tend to focus on this kind of stuff. Take care and have a good night!

Yes, high quality sunglasses are very important in these conditions. We tend to forget that. Spring sun is strong, all that snow adds additional reflection which multiplies the power of its rays. Sunburn is an immediate consequence with eye damage the possible next injury.

Yes, we are lucky to live in a place with a bit of everything. Mountains, lakes and sea, everything in a reach of a couple of hours drive.

Yet, your home country is big and has many more beautiful places :)
