My Actifit Report Card: February 28 2021
Hey everybody and thanks for stopping by today!
Sunday’s are church day and for now, online church. After church, we found ourselves at loose ends. I decided to text Jan and see if we could hike a little earlier than our normal start time. She said yes so off we went.
It was a very dampish day and for some reason, smokey. You could smell it in the air and see it, but with the humidity and a bit of fog, combined it was hard to tell what was the culprit of the smoke. It was cool-actually perfect temps for hiking.
I noticed today, many varieties of moss growing in the forest. I believe the overnight rain and the damp conditions were the perfect conditions for optimum mossy green color. The pic behind the Fitbit stats is almost like a fern type moss. Very pretty and very soft to the touch.
This moss reminds me of miniature pine boughs.

I noticed today, new growth of some Digitalis along the trail too. Digitalis, also known as fox glove, grows in abundance here. It’s one of my favorite flowers and is a true sign of spring. Digitalis is unique in the fact that it blooms once every two years.
While we’re up in the forest, we started hearing a chainsaw close by. We found ourselves at Keith and Lynne’s house. There was this guy up in a tree with a chainsaw. The crash we heard was the tree he was tied to. He was angling the top of the trees as apparently birds don’t like flat surfaces.
Turns out that the guy in the tree was Adam, one of our neighbors. I didn’t realize he did this kind of work. We were also experiencing sawdust snow. It was all pretty cool! 😎
We headed home and I was glad; I’m thinking it might be time for a new pair of hiking boots as I’m developing sore points on my feet.

@elizabethbit Beautiful post! Do you run into Ginseng and/or asparagus? Interesting that the flower "Digitalis" blooms every other year. Is this the year? I would imagine that they "nature" has figured that one out!
Fox glove? I remember seeing them with flowers!
