Monthly Map Melee April Contest Results.
Welcome to the results of the 2nd Monthly Map Melee. We have some wonderful entries, but sadly, even with the increased payout, we saw fewer entrants than last month.
If anyone has ideas for worldbuilding related contests that they would like to see feel free to drop a comment. We are looking to branch out into more contests.
And now for a little refresher on our prize pool for this month.
Map Melee Prizes
Main Prize
100 Hive as the total prize pool
1st- 50 Hive
2nd- 25 Hive
3rd- 10 Hive
Additional prizes
15 Hive divided amongst remaining contestants.
Any unclaimed prizes will roll into the next contest's pot in order to increase the prize pool.
3 entrants means that we have enough users to claim the entire pool. Yes, @oblivioncubed is a moderator here and normally his contest entry would be considered an example piece to provide inspiration. But since nobody else showed up to fill that 3rd spot I feel it only right to include him in the prizes.
3 entrants also means that it's really easy to divide up the remaining 15 hive. Booyah!

I think part of it is still moving pains from the old chain to the new one. And also with everything going on in the world at the moment. Like, a lot of people are at home with an assumed plenty of time on their hands, but at the same time it's not going to be 'plenty of time' for everyone with such an upheaval of circumstances and may be even less time than they're used to. 🙁
Thanks for all those efforts, anyway and for standing true to your plans despite the lack of participation. I think the current Communities system kind of cuts audiences in pieces and...well, it seems like a hindrance in some aspects at least. We're far from critical mass. But that applies to every contest that has been around. Almost every contest. Certainly to those on a weekly basis and.
Then again, I'm in World Top Three! We all are!

I understand the disappointment of not having a lot of participants this time around. I too was hoping to see a lot of people posting their spaceship designs cause i love looking at that sorta stuff.
I can't add much more than what was already said other than us all teaming together to promote the Worldbuilding Community would be a good start for getting the word out. Its a great idea you have going here. Don't get disheartened. There are more of us out there, its just that they need to find out that they have a home here at worldbuilding where they can share their creative world. This Community will grow. We got your back.

To be honest, I'm not too horribly disheartened. I just couldn't resist using the .gif of Kevin Sorbo misreading the script for Hercules and instead of acting disappointed, he yells it. 🤣
I am probably the most guilty party at failing to promote this contest, so I only have myself to blame lol. I think in May we will be coming out with another contest for the remaining two weeks of the month to encourage other aspects of worldbuilding.
