We are now on letter F of the #alphabethunt challenge hosted by @barbara-orenya.

FISHING BOATS

Fishing boats anchored in the Montague harbor are used for lobster fishing.

The Great Blue Heron is fishing and doesn’t need a boat. The big bird just needs his long legs to wade in the water and a beak to grab the fish.

People fishing on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I noticed them while driving by on the highway.

FARMING

PEI is not only known for lobster fishing but for potatoes that are grown in the rich red soil.

FOX

The lovely red fox who came to visit me one St. Paddy’s Day eve, three years ago. I was a bit down thinking of old times and how much my mother loved St. Patrick’s Day. Hubby had gone to bed and I was baking shamrock shaped cookies and singing an Irish tune when I looked outside to see this welcome sight.

It was a magical evening to see the fox outside and spirit orbs floating all around him. I think the little people were with him and paying me a visit. Certainly not to hear my singing. LOL

There was record snowfall that year as you can see by the pile of snow the fox is sitting on.

FIRSTBORN

If you are the firstborn you are the first child of your mother or the first born in the spring like this buffalo calf.

I relate to firstborn as I am the first born of my parents, therefore the oldest sibling which means I got the most discipline and, was told, the most rebellious.:)

In the spring this buffalo has one of the first born calves of the herd.

FRENCH FRIES

I’m not a big french fry eater but do like using them to make Poutine. This is a bag I have in the freezer but you can make your own french fries by slicing up potatoes.

What is Poutine? I call it a dish of French Canadian Cuisine.

Poutine is a dish that includes french fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy. It originated in the Canadian province of Quebec and emerged in the late 1950s in the Centre-du-Québec area. It has long been associated with Quebec cuisine. Wikipedia

FOOD

I’ve mentioned food throughout with fish, potatoes, poutine and shamrock cookies.

The shamrock cookies are made as a molasses ginger cookie with green jam in the center.

Location: Prince Edward Island, Canada

Photos are mine taken at different times.

Happy hunting for the Letter “F”

My older sister was the firstborn, and I can tell you she was really rebellious, but not disciplined at all. She only became that much later when she had her first child.

Of course I love that baby bison, Jo, but the fishing heron looks very cool too. I don't eat much sweets at all, but these cookies look tasty and right now I would love to have some here ;)

Cool F post, Jo, I could have thought of fishing myself, because I have a photo a big trout (German: Forelle) which my children have caught a few years ago.

Have a nice afternoon and a wonderful weekend, Jo 🙂

Thanks Johann. I’m happy you liked my “F” selections of the firstborn baby buffalo and great blue heron doing his fishing.

You are most welcome to have all of those cookies you want. They are not too sweet and most people like them. When I visit my sister I always take some in the shape of gingerbread men, with strawberry jelly in the belly, as her son, now all grown up, still looks forward to them.

The trout (Forelle) your children caught would make a good F. For fish.

Have a great evening and wonderful weekend. 😊

You are very welcome Jo, these photos were my favorites :)

My wife and mother bake cookies for christmas. I think this is the only time of year when we have cookies. I only eat them when I'm hungry, except the not so sweet ones which I love :)

It was a real big one from my father's pond. The image must be somewhere on another harddisk. Maybe I can find it.

I wish you the same, Jo, have a great evening and weekend 🙂

Lovely selection Jo ! ^_^ I had never made the link between your place and Anne of Green Gables, this is Melinda that told me you live in the same place, and I so adored the TV film made from the book, the landscapes are gorgeous too, so now that I know I have a different look at your shots...LoL
Like this Fox...how wonderful is that to have been visited by him when cooking your lovely shamrock cookies ...! 😊

Thanks Barbara @barbara-orenya. Yes, I’m in the land of the famous redhead, Anne of Green Gables. Like you, my hair was red but now more blond looking with the onset of age. I do miss my auburn hair though.😊

I’m happy you liked the fox and his unexpected appearance. It was a strange uplifting evening. I noticed him through the kitchen window . The fox stayed there and let me go outside and photograph him.❤️

Foxy Lady sitting on the snow hill, what a lovely feeling when you down and lonely, something appears to take away all those feelings of despair.

Firstborn one never forgets delight/angst knowing this little person will alter your life forever!

Fresh tilled land releasing fragrance of tomorrows food on the table.

How my heart goes out to fishermen who cannot ply their trade at the moment with fishing ban on our sea shore. Going into the best month of the year with Sardine Run approaching.

Wishing you a wonderful new week and thanks for lovely share in letter "F" Jo.

Thanks for your kind comments Joan. Restaurants are being allowed to open today but will restrictions. I wonder how many will be able to open.

Yes the restrictions have made it difficult for the lobster fishermen here.

Have a great week and thanks for the tip

Have not seen a descent lobster, cray fish or langoustine in so many years I have almost forgotten what they look like, alive or dead. Prawns and shrimp are readily available, but just not as good.

Well I'd like a summer cabin in Canada if I could ask for anything. lol. I'd spend June, July and August up there!

Haha Janton, you might as well spent September too. It is a beautiful month and no flies then.

Oh that's right, I heard you guys had flies really bad in the summer, that ain't fair! What about mosquitoes? I can handle flies but mosquitoes are horrible. lol. I saw a new invention, something that you wear on your wrist like a watch and it's supposed to drive away mosquitoes.

Yes there are mosquitoes and flies in the country at times but not too bad. When I lived in the city there weren’t any there. I was outside working in the flower garden yesterday and there wasn’t any bothering me. There is ointment ( called fly dope locally) you can put on to keep them away but I never do.

Fly Dope! That's an interesting name for it. lol.

Haha. Yeah that’s the name we always gave the fly repellent you buy.

I find if you put some Vick’s behind your ears and on your wrists it will keep the flies away. Albeit you will smell like you are trying to get rid of a cold. 😀

Oh I didn't know that. That's a good piece of advice to remember. Thankfully we have almost no flies in our area for some reason and I hope it stays that way!
