‘E’ For Effort

The Alphabet Hunt is on for the letter E. This was not a letter you wanted to see on your test paper if you were a student but a “F” would be worse!

My six selections of words starting with “E:”

EAGLE

Right away the majestic eagle came to mind. Since I don’t have too long a lens on my camera, this high flying bird is not easy to capture.

EGG

Who hasn’t eaten eggs every day, whether for breakfast or mixed into other food you are not aware the egg is added.

The Kings Castle Provincial Park has large statues of birds and animals from storybooks. I visited the park here on PEI and found the goose that laid the golden egg. The egg she laid looks more orange than gold but it will have to do. :)

E.T.

I couldn’t find an elf but what I have right here in the house is an E.T.(extraterrestrial) that is watching from the window frame. It has the big dark eyes and ant shape head. I chuckle as E.T. looks in the direction my hubby sits at the table. I tell him he has to be exceptionally nice to me or the E.T. will beam him up.:)

EXCAVATION

Excavation is the act or process of digging, especially when something specific is being removed from the ground. ... The Latin source of excavation is excavationem, "a hollowing out," from excavare, "to hollow out," with its roots of ex-, "out," and cavare, "to hollow."

I happen to pass this house that has piles of earth excavated to build the basement and the soil is being used to level the lawn.

Also nice field of effervescent cheery dandelions beside the house.

EVERGREEN

Evergreen means it’s green forever. This “E” is a given with a forest of evergreen trees surrounding me. The evergreen tree retains its foliage or needles all year. Some trees that are evergreen included spruce, fir, pine and cedar.

An evergreen spruce tree branches with droplets.

A collage of some of the evergreen trees I had in my photos.

EYES

Last of my “E” selections is something we notice about someone right away. It’s said the eyes are the windows of the soul and I think they do reveal a lot about a person or animal.

A wild red fox who used to visit me. His eyes emits kindness.

Animals will size you up with their eyes. These animals are looking apprehensive at me wondering who is that crazy person who wants to take my picture. :)

Very nice selection with surprising propositions like E.T in the window frame 😄 I also like to find specifics things or characters in shapes around me, not only the clouds but also cracks in a wall or knots in the wood like here 😉
You made a lovely collection of animal eyes, this is a wonderful idea ! ^_^

It suddenly appeared after we put the new wood around the window. One day Hubster felt eyes on him and there it was looking in his direction. 😄

Great E photos, Jo! Evergreen is a great E choice. And eyes. I'm always surprised by some of photos and wonder why I didn't think of that! I have my photos gathered and plan to do my post tomorrow.

Thanks Melinda. E is not an easy letter for the hunt. Some letters will get harder but we are up to the task.😊

I look forward to see your selections. It always amazes me what everyone comes up with too.

You nailed it with the E.T. 😀 I wouldn't notice it at first. Who would think that you can have such image on the window frame, so amazing.
Lovely selection Jo! ❤

Wow, excavation amd evergreen, I would never have thought of these words. And you show us not one pair of eyes only, that's a full range of different animal eyes - cool, Jo.

Most times I have had bad luck when I saw a bird of pray - either it was too far away or I didn't have no long lens with me or it flew away as soon as I was ready to photograph.

Could you please tell this goose to fly over the big pond to me. I would feed her with the best food and she would only need to give me one egg or two 😉

E.T. - that was a great find and really, it almost looks like this cool little alien. I would never have seen anything in this wooden board if you didn't say so, but in his left eye (the right one when you look at the photo) I can see a man with an eye patch. I even remember to have seen this face before, but I cannot remember his name. That's weird 😵

Really cool post, this challenge is great.
I wish you a wondeful afternoon, Jo 🙂

I see the man in the eye too Johann. I don’t know who he is -if you remember let me know.

Sorry Johann, the golden goose doesn’t seem to want to leave her egg. You’ll have to find another bird or hen with an egg. 😀

Mentioning birds of prey, I saw an eagle today with a snake in it’s claws. Scary sight as snakes are a phobia to me. I might do a post on it later but not happy with the shot I got of it.

Thanks always for your kind comments. 😊

Have a good night.

Good morning, Jo, we seem to have a rainy day today, but I don't mind, because I have some things to do and I also shoud begin to edit the photos I took in the past days, but there are not many anyway.

Somehow this face reminds me on Charles Bronson or some photos of Geronimo, but with eye patch 🙄

I have a friend who lives on a small farm. She has chicken, but I don't think they lay golden eggs, because otherwise my friend wouldn't drive a small old Hyundai 😂

Snakes are very seldom here and we have only a few which are poinonous. I love to see them, but they also scare me a little bit, but I'd love to be patient enough to sit somewhere for hours and wait for such big birds, which then might not even come ;) lol

I wish you a great day and beautiful weather, Jo 🙂

Hi Johann. Good to have a day inside to catch up on things.

Haha, it would be nice for your friend to have hens that laid a golden egg. But then we would all want one.

There.s not a lot of snakes here and none are poisonous. My fear of them stops me from picking blueberries and such. I think I picked this up from my mother being so afraid of them as there were many around the barn on the farm. If she saw one she would run to the house and telling me to run too.
Have a good afternoon. Sun is out here and I saw the return of the hummingbirds this morning.!

Hi Jo,
nope, I had no chance to stay at home because the sun came and I had to go for a ride - I have just come back, will make a few replies and comments and then I'll probably fall asleep ;)
Tomorrow I am at work anyway and I should have some time to edit a few photos, maybe prepare my "E" post too.

Cool, I'd love to have Hummingbirds here, but we have only a very big moth that looks almost like a Hummingbird 😉
I hope you have a good day Jo.

Very innovative finding E.T. in your wood grain. I bet the kids love the Goose that lays the golden/orange egg in the Park. Very cute.

I love finding symbols and faces in such things Trudee. When I was at the park with all the storybook statues there were mostly adults but I’m sure more kids will be there with their parents during the summer.

Great your ET.

I like animals, I would have come very close to them to photograph their best angle of eye.
