my journey to the Alphabet Land (day U)

ucover.jpg

My post goes for #AlphabetHunt challenge by @barbara-orenya. This week we had to find words starting with letter "U". It didnt became a problem to find my six tropheys, especially having ubiquitous umbrellas all around. This week turned out to be a special, cause Barbara has a birthday.** Happy, Happy Birthday to you,** my dear friend! I wish a lot of sunshine, flowers and snails always surround you (sorry that none of these things is starting from U).

U — Unicorn

5580w.jpg

Unicorn is one of the 1st things that come to my mind on U-demand. Pretty strange, isnt it? Unlike the dinosaur, I have lots of unicorn pictures -- due to the fact that a lot of other folks share my love to those mythical creatures. I have in my archive this photo of unicorn, the greatest of them all. Unfortunately, its not my work but I could not stand the Temptation to share it with you, my friends. This is a work of contemporary St.Petersburg photographer Mikhail Burlatsky.

U — Used

used_9323w.jpg

I found this funny pic of used candies in my archive.

8950ww.jpg

The last photo of a used mask has another intresting word in it: 'Ubiquitous'. Used masks today is really well-spread and ubiquitous shit on the streets... I do not use it as my active vocabulary.

U — Useless

A simple word that can go well with so many different intresting things! I choose this useless bicycle. It cant ride anywhere, one cant even sit on it. It is suitable for nothing!

useless_7485w.jpg

U — UK boy

ukboy_4483.jpg

A graffity I noticed on the streets of St.Petersburg. I have a suspicion nobody can have the same entry this week, well, the chances are below zero ;)

U — Univercity

Just a random encounter on the street brought me to this entry. I use different tactics of wordhunting, one of them is just looking around at the streets, and catching all that passes by close to me enought. Well, since I am using 150mm telephoto most of the time...
PS. Same with UK boy graffity.

U — Ugli milkcap

IMG_2023w.jpg

In Russian these mushrooms are named 'Gruzd'. I really dont know why they got such a strange name as 'Ugly milkcap'. Well, I understand the 'milkcap' part, but why 'ugly'?.. no idea. Those mushrooms love to hide in the soil, they are real pro at playing hide-and-seek with Setero.

IMG_2902wlttr.jpg

U — Umbrellas

And of course umbrellas! This time first thing goes in the last row... or better say, no go at all: I decided to omit them from my hunt, although I managed to accumulate a half-dozen of umbrellas since the challenge have started: it is no exclusive stuff at all

:)

All the images taken by me, as always (except one). See you next time with letter 'V'

maybe they dont occure in your forests, I can easily imagine that. But even if they do, they are hard to find -- they do hide so well in the soil!

Nothing in life is truly ugly what an unusual name for a mushroom, useless has beauty, a memory of times gone.

Ultimately using some unusual words to get through showcasing the letter "U" around You @qwerrie

Got to say that ubiquitous is a new word for me. About the ugly mushroom, well it does not look ugly to me. You are real hunter spotting the words on the street. 😀

I have to confess your unicorn is prettiest than mine, and the art photography is beautiful too !
I like you illustration of the word Useless with this bicycle...well done ! 😉
I do not understand why ubiquitous could apply to the mask though...can you exlain me ? Isn't ubiquity the faculty to be at many places in the same time ..?
Poor mushroom that has a a so explicite name ! 😄

'ubiquitous' is an adjective to express the well-spread condition of somethin, a thing, phenomen, fashion etc. since the masks are the top fashion this season, the used / weared / wasted-out masks I see a lot, being left all across the streets, thats why I label it with this word.

I am glad you enjoyed the unicorn, indeed he is pretty - but I cant see yours! :/ as I commented above, for unknown reason this part of your post is not displayed to me! strange.

Ooh now that I have translated with Google, I can see what it means here ... I was a bit lost because in french we only speak of ubiquity which is the faculty of being simultaneously on many places at the same time... ok, that makes sense 😉

now you know English +1 a bit better!
but thats not a great word for everyday vocabulary - just a passive stock (imo) :)))

PS: Everywhere you can see these used masks on the ground, I can't understand the people.

I can't understand the people.

indeed! I refuse to understand this dirty and rubbish-producing behaviour pattern too. why?! why they doing this, when trash-bins are everywhere and a mask is not as heavy as 3 empty !BEER bottles packet... so weird.

glad you enjoyed the post, happy to entertain you with intresting and unusual visuals.

Your posts are always something special my friend 😁

It's not only the masks. People don't care if there's a trash bin. They just let their rubbish fall, no wonder Mother Nature is mad at us.
