My entry:
My photo for the contest is all that is left of my father's extensive watch fob collection. My father was an Operating Engineer by trade and most often worked as a crane operator. He collected watch fobs that were given away by heavy equipment companies.
Watch fobs were worn outside of the pocket and served as a pull to extract the pocket watch. Manufacturers often gave away watch fobs to advertise their products and my dad was always quite excited when he came upon a new one that he didn't have.
After my dad died my nephew took both display cases that contained the collection and not long afterwards there was a house fire and everything was lost. I only wish I had taken more photos, but I had no idea I would never see them again.
Some of the fobs were COPPER and the buckles on the leather straps were METAL.
My keyword is collection

That's a cool collection and nice to see, because nowadays, with everything being digital, there aren't many people who do physical collections anymore.
Too bad they got lost in the fire.. but at least you have some pictures, which is better than none. :)
Thanks so much, Pix!

.It's a shame that this collection has been lost
There were many family heirlooms that had been passed down for generations that were lost in that fire. It was hard.
What a great collection! It's sad that it was lost!
Thanks! Lots of family keepsakes were lost in that fire. It was pretty heartbreaking.
But how are you doing? I hope muchly much better?
I am better, for sure, but have difficulty forming words, so my blog suffers. But I'm improving. Comments such as this require time to compose and require a lot of erasures. I really am trying and this is the longest comment so far, @melinda010100 🥰🌺🤙

tokens.Beautiful collection of buckles and straps, it's sad to that you lost them on house fire
Oh, how sad to loose such unique collection in fire.
They really look cool.
It was fun to look through them with Dad and have him tell stories of the various pieces of equipment.
I am not so familiar with these watch fobs and wouldn't be able to figure out which part holds the watch and which part hangs outside. Nevertheless, nice entry. Just so sorry such a priceless collection could be lost.
