This stunning church is the St Ambrose Catholic Church in Brunswick. An inner city suburb of Melbourne and what is referred to as the 'old Western suburbs' before population boom sent people further out west.

The church was constructed in 1873 consisting of blue stone. A common hardy basalt found throughout Victoria was mined by early pioneers to construct buildings. It is a hard stone to work with but one of the strongest building materials.

It was highly sought after in the construction of church's and jails. In fact the old Melbourne Gaol and the former pentridge prison in Coburg are entirely constructed from blue stone.

My key word is Blue

RELIGION/BLUE/GLASS

Thanks @davidesimoncini for this fun contest!
