On The Hunt for Letter "T"....

Yesterday my wife and myself were back at the supermarket doing our fruit and veggie shopping but also on the hunt for the #alphabethunt contest run by @barbara-orenya and also submitting this post for #marketfriday hosted by @dswigle and this week begins the hunt for letter "T" so follow us down the aisles and see what we can find starting with the letter "T" honestly this reminds me of the little games we use to play as kids , i spy with my little eye i am sure we have all played this game at some stage of our childhood life anyway lets move on.

I will begin this week's letter "T" with Tomatoes did you know that "Tomatoes are fruits that are considered vegetables by nutritionists" ? That i don't understand i always considered Tomatoes as a vegetable what about you guys is it a fruit or a vegetables ? But anyway who really cares life is never easy all i know i love my Tomatoes in many ways whether it be in my salads or raw like a apple especially the little sweet grape tomatoes but as we all know there are countless ways to eat tomatoes.

This blow me out there are over 10,000 tomatoes cultivated that is amazing and all come in different shape , size and color it is hard to choose a tomato at best of times the most common are Grape Tomatoes , Truss Tomatoes , Sun Delight Tomatoes , Rich Dark Tomatoes , Cheery Tomatoes , Heirloom Tomatoes but all tomatoes are good for you having great sources of vitamin C, potassium, vitamin B9 , and vitamin K.

Next up we have the Turmeric root vegetable looks similar to ginger the Turmeric is normally grinded into a fine powder and most commonly used as a spice in many Asia and Indian dishes. I love to put a pinch of turmeric on my scrambled eggs gives them great flavor or we toss Turmeric in with our other vegetables in a roast bake dinner also it's great blended into a smoothie or a pinch in a cup of tea it taste great and has many health benefits including increasing your sex drive as been said and done in the ancient Indian culture and is still that way today by putting a bit Turmeric power in glass of water and drinking it 😊

Thai Basil more distinctive in the Southeast Asia countries it is used in many Thai dishes it's flavor is described as anise and licorice like and slightly spicy. It has more of a purple stem and flatter leaves in comparison to the Italian Basil. I love eating this Thai Basil raw mixed in with my salads gives the salad a whole new level of flavor.

Turnip root vegetable or white turnip as a little bitter taste but once cooked it has more of a mellow taste some say it taste something like a cross between cabbage and a radish. Turnips are a health root vegetable for man and beast and are regarded as a superfood. They can be used in baked dinners , stews or in soups.

Tamarillo fruit this fruit has a orange flesh on the inside and contains small black seeds which are also edible the fruit has a slightly sweet and intense flavor they say it has the taste similar to that of a tomato but do avoid eating the skin as it has a bitter taste , it's grown in the western parts of Australia been more of a tropical fruit.

Taro root vegetable is a starchy vegetable that is similar taste like a potato with a white flesh but has purple specks throughout it has a mildly sweet taste and grown mainly throughout Asia. They say the Taro has 30% less fat more fiber and lots more of vitamin E , then the a potato. Never tried this Taro vegetable with a report like that it's going in on my next bake dinner 😂
