Nice and scary W's | #AlphabetHunt for the letter W

During my hunt for the letter W I have caught landscapes, waterfalls and also some nice insects ... if spiders scare you please don't scroll to the end.

There are not many letters left in the #AlphabetHunt Challenge hosted by the lovely and great artist Barbara @barbara-orenya, who has already started the next round of the Challenge in the Feel Good Community, where you have to illustrate 6 words (or concepts) starting with the letter of the week.

So let's begin with the probably most obvious W word ...

Window

There will be many Windows to see this week, but I want to show you another kind of window. The sunset on the Dobratsch mountain last month was mostly covered by dark rain clouds, but for a few minutes the clouds opened a little Window to show me an orange lit cloud behind.

Wasp

During a Walk at the reservoir in August I encountered quite a few Wasps which had breakfast on flowers together with other insects in peace.

Waterfall

This little Waterfall reminds me on a white wedding dress. I have taken the photo during a hike through a gorge and forest called "Abenteuer Wasser Weg / Adventure Water Way" near home.

The second Waterfall I have photographed a couple of days ago at one of my favorite places, the Šunik Water Grove / Šunikov vodni gaj in Slovenia. I have taken many photos of this Waterfall in the past years and every single one looks different, but all look good 😁

Wet

Some insects look great when they are still full of dew drops in the morning. This wet fly was still sleeping on a leaf or it was still too cold for it to move, so I could easily take a few photos 😊

Winding

On my way back down to the valley from the Nassfeld pass on my last photo trip, I encountered this nice looking winding road below and the cascading stream behind. Of course I had to take a quick shot and then drive down there :)

Web

Spider Webs are fascinating things and you won't believe how fast spiders web their web using the silk they produce.

Wasp Spider

I have shown you Wasps and Spiders above, so I thought I could add some Wasp Spiders (Argiope bruennichi) as a little bonus.

There have been three of these big spiders right beside the path I was walking and I saw them only by accident, because the web of the first one was shining bright in the morning sun.

Each of the other two Wasp Spiders had caught a prey and already wrapped it in silk. The first prey seems to be a grasshopper ...

... but I have absolutely no idea what kind of insect the prey of the other Wasp Spider could be. Maybe it's also a grasshopper, but it looks very strange.

Well, I think with these words the easy hunting days are over, although Barbara | @barbara-orenya has loosened the rules for the remaining letters X, Y and Z:

>So we group these last three letters and you can come up with 6 words starting with X Y and/or Z, while trying to find words in each, as far as possible 😊 ...do not only propose Y, try to propose in X and Z too ...😉


I don't add information about the photos when I post for the #AlphabetHunt, because it's all about the words, but all photos were shot with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS II USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 L STM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM, SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C.

I leave all EXIF and IPTC information stored in the pictures.

It's the HF I think - Ecency shows all images, but PeakD doesn't. I assume you mean the winding street ... I try some uploads... ;)

Wonderful choices Hannes. I really like how the window opened to show the orange cloud and loved the silky waterfall.

Great captures of the wasp spiders and their prey.

yeah, you had winding too. I wanted to add a few words about it in my comment, but then I forgot.

Your hunt was more than successful ... I'm thrilled .... The waterfall is beautiful and how lucky it is to have it nearby :-)
Wet is such a good macro photo ...
And the spider is the one you photographed and was very scary ... and it is ... I had the one with the yellow as a guest in the yard :-) But not scarier ;-)
I also tried to photograph the spider and the web, but unfortunately I don't have good equipment :-( and before this rain my yard was full of spiders, even bigger ones :-)

Some great pictures, a few did not want to load, one of the ones not loading must have been the picture of the witch, they are after all scary W things in many ways, I did like the waterfall pictures especially the second one with the small thinner fall on the left of the picture. The Wasp Spider shots looked great. I was just joking about the witch.

Sorry for my late reply, but the Hive didn't work for me very well yesterday evening and today I have been searching for autumnal colors, but it has snowed and so I have got a wintry landscape with autumnal colors 😉

I have uploaded the missing images in a comment to my post.
The second waterfall always looks different. After rainfalls such small waterfalls appear to the sides of the gorge and I think these little falls look sometimes even better than the big falls. At least they make them look a lot better 🙂

Yes a few HF Glitches, voting and commenting have been tough and I guess some posting has been difficult since it seems there were not that many.

Snow, so far we have not gotten any maybe some in the mountains, but none down where I live, I am hoping it holds off as long as it did last year, but we may actually have some on the ground for Halloween this year. It is certainly getting cold fast.

The snow we have got last night will be gone soon, because they predict a sunny weekend and next week should be very nice too. It's too early for the winter anyway - the trees haven't even changed much colour yet.

A couple of days ago they were expect snow for us for the weekend, so I had to rush and get the tires changed over to the studded ones, It is so far a pretty nice day here, lots of blue but that also makes it a very cold day, mid afternoon and we still have a bit of frost in the shaded areas.

Like your area, those first couple of snows when we get them don't last long at all.

I have changed my tires already because my son has driven quite a lot of kilometres, so the summer tires almost had no profile anymore and looked like slick tires 😂

We haven't had frost here in the valley yet, but soon it will be frosty in the mornings, and together with fog there will be cool photo opportunities 😁

Yeah, next week the competition is over because we are going to hunt all three remaining letters X, Y and Z in one post to make it easier 😉
It will still be a challenge because these letters are quite hard anyway, but since I need only 2 words / photos for each letter I think I and we all can make it 😅

Ah, very very good hunting trophies. I like all but I was taken in particular by the beauty of the Waterfalls. The first waterfall picture does really look like a bride. But my grandson loves the wasp spider photos and their captured preys. I had to promise him that we will look at the pictures again but first give me time to reply to you lol. The winding road did not show but I saw the upload in one of the comments you made and I was not disappointed with it.

Great illustration of Window. Not a man-made one but a natural one. Very creative of you. And the Wasp macro was so clear and crisp it is as if you can reach out and touch it. Awesome.

All in all this was an exceptionally good hunt for you. Congratulations. Now, we prepare for the X Y Z which, although combined, can still give us some really difficult challenges.

One of my grandson's favorite cartoon character is Lucas, the tarantula. So I guess, all spiders are not to be afraid of.

Yes, I was wondering why I was having a hard time with loading hive.blog and taking even longer to post comments. But hopefully, it will all come to pass.

The X Y Z will be the last of the Mohicans, so to speak. Let's do our best with this final chapter of this great Challenge. Can't wait to see what you're going to catch.

I don't know where to start, if because of the fabulous waterfall where the water washes the stones or the spider, the one that makes me shiver with fear and at the same time I'm looking forward to photographing, your photos have made my hair stand on end haha, but they are terrific, grabbed a pleasure to pass

That road is great and in wonderful condition, at least on the Austrian side. The Italian part is narrow and not that good, but also beautiful :)
