La Casa de Papel- Watch it at your own risk.

La Casa de Papel, roughly translatable to House of Paper and yet called Money Heist is the most hyped-up TV Show right now. And to many, it’s the best TV show ever to exist. As is expected of and sometimes over-exaggerated by Netflix

And it is truly worthy of every single appraising it’s getting. But to me, it is all that and more. Just add the word “trash” after it. For example, it is the most elegant and skillfully constructed trash on TV. It doesn’t mean that it will not get a five-star rating from me. It’s still trash.

The TV show entertainment has a variety of tastes to choose from. Some are produced as immensely complex ones and binge-worthy, some are small and sweet and some are sitcoms. And to attend up to that demand, the cable media and streaming platforms put on-air all sorts of shows.

Among them, money heist is at another level. It’s a show with beautiful cinematography, the over-the-top character building, great background score, greatly built complex screenplay and yet it all adds up to nothing. You are watching bank robbers being shown as superheroes.

After watching so many of these shows, you can never get surprised. Nothing Is predictable in between but you can always guess the end, the bank will always be looted.

For me, the experience is great and enjoyable. There are some shows which will provide you with thoughts for days and at your most intimate moments. But this mindless piece de resistance ends just at the exact point of the show ends. Like ill never think about what is happening in the show when I’m alone, and even while writing this, words are escaping me with which I could’ve praised the show. But in it, I am only seeing the strongly developed meaninglessness of the show.

If you fail to understand what I’m talking about, here is an example,

Think of it as a mystery thriller. You are experiencing a detective clasping through clues after clues, and after many difficulties, he finds the perpetrator. But what if, it’s revealed at the very first ten minutes of the book, will you still read it while you know the next 10–11 hours of reading it will be a complete waste of time?

La Casa de Papel is very similar to that. Seeing all the problems the characters has to face in the show is excruciatingly painful to watch. They put them through that by themselves in the very first place. Then what is the meaning? That proves that the ambition of the show lacks in delivery.

For example, the character, “Tokyo” to me is the root cause of all the problems. She speaks and unnecessary hassles drop out of nowhere.

Season 4 has just been released. I’m writing this as a palate cleanser as I’m going to binge-watch the show’s new season. And I’m eager to see if it has something to surprise me with.

To talk about what I liked most about all I can bring up is two things. The actor playing the character of “professor” is like a perfect fit. Like if I imagine someone who might be as clever, I always picture him. A minimally built guy with glasses. The second thing is its attention to chronology. It’s not easy to create something so complex and not leaving loopholes. Even the breaking bad has some errors like this.

Overall, I’d rates the show as binge-able. As long as they try to avoid the overdramatic and cunning dialog deliveries, it’s quite pleasant to watch in a day or two. In the new season, I’m expecting a little bit of some more diversification and spice.

Let’s cross our fingers and hope to see if Season 4 delivers. Otherwise, it’ll be a complete waste of time to invest even the tiniest of attention to it.
