A Stitch In Time Saves Nine

James had a special relationship with his grandmother and held her in high esteem. She had principles and values that he admired and also adopted in his life. She had an interesting way of engaging him in conversations to know the thoughts he had on his mind and always asked him about his goals and aspirations.

He had one of such conversations with her as a teenager and told her he was going to buy her a luxurious house and aeroplane to convey her to wherever she wants to go! James is as rich as Jeff Bezos! Hahaha! Just teasing you guys! James was a naive kid who loved his grandmother a lot and spoke out of the conviction that he could get a house and aeroplane for her when he becomes successful! Talk about thinking big! His grandmother was surprised by his statement and smiled at him. She realised he cared about her and wants her to be comfortable. His intentions for her made her happy as she prayed for him. She told him to work hard to achieve his goals after the prayer. She told him hardwork leads to success. This made James happy.

James was always excited to visit his grandmother because of her generosity and kindness towards him. He liked the subtle manner in which she did things. He never felt upset when she reprimands him because she makes him realise the correction is for his benefit and she never goes overboard with it. One of the highlights of James visits was accompanying his grandmother to her grocery store. He assists her in the store and gets rewarded with a special treat for his efforts by his grandmother. Her act of kindness and consideration made him feel happy.

The increasing demands of academic work in school made James' visit to his grandmother's house less frequent. Although he never turned down the opportunity to isit her whenever the opportunity presented itself. His grandmother also visits him occasionally and always brings a lot of goodies for him and his siblings. They loved having her around and enjoyed spending time with her.

An unpleasant news broke out and made James upset. His grandmother's health had been declining for sometime with short rebounds of recovery. She was taken to the hospital where she was diagnosed of having cancer of the breast. This occurrence made James' entire family unhappy but determined to fight for her survival and recovery. She received treatment but died eventually and left a big vacuum in their lives. James' aunt who discovered that her mother had a lump on her breast narrated how she got to know about her mother's health condition. She also spoke about how often she told her mother about the need for her to seek medical attention because of her incessant complains of severe chest pain. James' grandmother dismissed the suggestion most times and aways believed there was nothing to worry about. Apparently she was wrong! Her reluctance to visit the hospital proved to be a costly decision that brought about an unpleasant outcome for her family. James misses her and has great memories of her in his heart. He wishes she was still around but believes she is in a better place!
