Tough Call

At first, I thought of writing a post about a few of my favorite tracks. What I usually think and end up doing eventually, aren't the same. I do put all of them together nicely with a bow on top.

But you know me; my trail of thought just doesn't stay in one place. You'll see just why I say what I say. Nevertheless I'll talk about music. Spoiler alert: I'll be trashing something. Before I do that, I'll stroll around the vicinity a little bit.

You know you have your favorite set of music but it depends on your mood. Each mood has a particular set and from there the track list changes frequently. Yes, I too have that; then again I can't really pick out my most favorite songs. Sometimes the mood is "Back to Black" and sometimes it's "Bad to the bone"; the titles kind of rhymes, don't they. Oftentimes Sinatra "Fly me to the moon" but it never is a "Sucker" of Jonas Brothers. My mood often goes (quite literally) "Uptown Funk" but it never "Blurred Lines."

I can't pick out a few random favorites but one thing I can do for sure; I can share a few random songs that I greatly enjoy.

These few songs are completely out of any mood list whatsoever. They are the type of songs that you will find yourself playing no matter what mood you’re in. I know six songs are just too many to share, but when I started to choose, I couldn’t just take one and leave the other behind. So, I pushed all the six in the list and put aside a few.

There’s not one song that matches with the other; not one of them has a single definite explicable emotion. None of these are sad songs; but none too happy either. None are songs for the lonely souls, or maybe they are, but there is a stillness that I feel. They don’t excite me, they relax me. They have a mind and soul of their own. I didn't even scratch the surface of the lyrics; I only understand enough to make them sensible to me and me only. And I don’t know if including 6 YouTube videos would be a smart move so I didn’t; rather, I included the links above so you can check them out. The set is a mix of songs of different languages and themes, and there’s nothing in common between them except perhaps the language. That is perhaps the primary reason to why I couldn’t select two or three favorite songs because I’m not fixated on a language or genre.

I can’t explain about each of them or the special reasons for my liking; if I write about the songs then it will be too hard to finish it and if I try to think of my reasoning then I say, I have none. The songs have deeper meanings and a few are metaphorical too. It’s never always what it appears; they are more than meets the eye. Whether to indulge myself in the tune or focus on the lyrics, I cannot do either of those. Perhaps going with the flow is the best to do.

Please, I’m not an expert; neither will I present myself as one. There are others who are far more capable of describing these songs and what they mean. They can dissect and can tell you each and everything about them; and I am not one of them. I consider myself quite simple-minded and when it comes to songs; I overlook the subtext altogether; just enjoy the tune and the lyrics. Yes, Very simple-minded indeed.
