Strike Or Get Rid Of The Attacker's Grip First
If the attacker grabs your hands, the collar of the shirt and any part of the body. What should you do then? Will you directly strike the attacker or get rid of the attacker's grip first?
If you want to strike and hit the attacker as soon as he grabs you, you can do that. Sometimes there are some situations you do not want to do that. For example, you do not want to get involved in the fight. You are trying to solve this without hurting anyone.
In that case, you can use grab and locking techniques to defend yourself. In order to protect yourself, you grab the attacker, put pressure, or lock the attacker. Here you are not striking him. When the attacker feels the pain, he has to let you go.
When you see that whatever you do, the attacker is going to hit and hurt you. You cannot avoid the fight anyhow. You can go directly to strike. If the attacker grabs the collar of your shirt or grabs your hands, you can strike to release yourself.
You can punch, kick, elbow strikes, knee charge, foot stomp, palm strike, or whatever you like to do. It works in some situations very well. The attacker will think twice before attacking you again.
In a real-life situation, you have to respond fast, otherwise, you cannot defend yourself against attack. When you should do what, you have to decide that on time based on the situation.
Since every situation is different, it is difficult to define what to do in which situation. You have to make the decision based on your observation. Do what feels right to you.
