What can be more joyful than growing our own food, especially in an apartment! I have made it happen!!

I have two small balconies, one is dedicated to my plants. I grow some green peas this time, some chillis, and I always have a corner for local spinach. Because it's easy to grow them and full of nutrition.

This is the plant, all growing up to the ceiling!

The root, this is the time for flowers and seeds.

I cut some of the creeps for cooking purposes!

Our local spinach, we call it 'Pui Shak' in our native language.

So now let me share my cooking!

I cooked the spinach with lentils. Because the amount is not huge as you can see so I had to cope up with an idea.

I washed some lentils and add them with the spinach.

Boiled it with water, turmeric powder, salt, and chili.

Fried some onion and garlic slices in vegetable oil, added three dried red chili and 'five spices'.

Then put the boiled lentil, spinach mixture and cooked for another few minutes. And it's done!

So that was it. It was not even a full meal or I wouldn't say a side dish either. But the amount of joy and pleasure I got to cook my own grown food was enormous.

You may wonder, why I'm so happy? One of the reasons is it's my own grown but another big reason is it's organic, no pesticide, no chemicals; nothing. I never can get these fresh at the market for sure. And who doesn't know homegrown always tastes best!
