Yesterday could literally pass as one of the worse days for me ever. I had embarked on a journey of about 534 kilometres from Lagos to Owerri, a journey that was suppose to last for nothing less than 10 hours by road, yet I ended up wasting the entire 24 hours.

Like most part of the world, the corona virus pandemic halted a lot of things (if not everything) and for moment, it was as if the entire world came to an end.

My school was affected and unfortunately we all had to go home, leaving most of our school project undone. Luckily for everyone, things are beginning to ease up and so I decided to make a journey to my school to continue my projects so that it will all be easier when the school's finally resume.

I had woken up early in the morning to get to the bus park and after some few procedures, the bus was set to move. We had left at exactly 7:30 am.

I had been happy than we had left that early because early movement meant early arrival, if only I had known.

You see, Lagos is common for its traffic problems. You could literally spend a whole day in traffic. So I had been praying to God to let us scale through this one but like the Bible says, the prayer of a sinner is an abomination to God. So we spent about an hour on traffic just in lagos alone.

Assuming that wasn't enough, for some reason they were more than fifty checking points on the road. It was like the country was expecting a suicide bomber to drive through that path on that faithful day. We were asked to come down, searched, our bags were opened and everything in it were brought out. I was the one that was questioned the most everyone we were stopped because I had my laptop with me and for some reason, the cops all have this mentality that if you're a young man with laptop then you're a most definitely a yahoo boy (the word yahoo boy stands for fraudster).

So after all of this annoying stops on the way, I ended up getting to my place by some few minutes past twelves in the midnight. I remember walking on the empty street with all this crazy thoughts going through my mind like what if I got robbed or worse.. What if I got attacked and killed?

After walking for almost fifteen minutes because I couldn't get a commercial vehicle late that night, I finally got to my destination safe and sound. And right now, all I'm doing is hoping and praying this never happens to me again.
