Secret Lover

As Tricia got dragged out of the courtroom, she could barely look at her husband's face. She had brought disgrace to her family and twenty years in prison was her punishment for it.

Dave said nothing as he watched Tricia been taken away. He didn't know if she deserved what she got but she had sinned against him and against God and she was getting punished for it.

He remembered how this whole thing had started. A neighbor of his had told him about the external affairs his wife was having while he was away at work. At first, Dave had ignored him but an accusation like that against someone you love doesn't just leave your mind, it comes back to haunt you whenever she does anything suspicious.

So Dave decided to do the only thing he knew he could do to finally set his mind free. He tried proving his neighbor wrong by asking him to call him whenever he saw the guy whom his wife was having an affair with walk into his home. Three days after that he received a call.

Dave immediately rushed home the moment he dropped the call. Tricia had hesitated before opening the door. Dave would have opened it with his keys but the door had been locked from the inside which was strange. They both hardly bolted the door from inside.

When she finally opened the door, Dave noticed she was acting a little bit weird. He looked around but couldn't find anyone but Tricia's behavior made him feel something wasn't right so he decided to do something unexpected.

“Pack a few things, we're going for a vacation”. Dave said to his wife. He knew if she was hiding anyone in the house, she would refuse to leave with him. But contrary to what Dave thought she would do, Tricia went upstairs, took a few of her stuff and entered the car.

Three weeks later, they both came back from their impromptu vacation but none of them could stay in the house for more than five seconds. The smell coming from the basement was enough to make anyone throw up.

It turned out Tricia had hidden her lover in the basement and locked it, with hopes that she would be back soon. But the vacation had taken a little bit longer than expected and he had died inside. The smell was as a result of his rotten body. The police were called and Tricia was arrested for murder and now she was on her way to prison.
