Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. One thing has been catching my eye for days. There are a lot of things happening around me that I can't resist, but I still feel annoyed. Elder Abuse is the one of them. I do respect my elders. But in our society there are a lot people who don’t love their elders, even though they beat them very badly. I feel very sad whenever I see this kind of situation. In this case we should respect our elders.

First question is “What is elder abuse?" Generally Elder abuse is an intentional act or failure to act that causes or creates a risk of harm to an older adult. An older adult is someone age 60 or older. Elder abuse is a serious problem in the society. Abuse, including neglect and exploitation, is experienced by about 1 in 10 people aged 60 and older who live at home. From 2002 to 2020, more than 643,000 older adults were treated in the emergency department for nonfatal assaults and over 19,000 homicides occurred. I’m speechless right now. I felt warmth every time.

Elder abuse can have several physical and emotional effects on an older adult. Victims are fearful and anxious. They may have problems with trust and be wary of others. Many victims suffer physical injuries. Some are minor, like cuts, scratches, bruises, and welts. Others are more serious and can cause lasting disabilities. Even sometimes they died. I feel like I’ll solve all the problem of our society and take all the sadness from each and everyone but my courage is so poor.

There are many kinds of elder abuse in our society. Now I’ll explain each of them and I’ll also explain how we can reduce the problem.

First of all is Physical abuse. Physical abuse is when an elder experiences illness, pain, injury, functional impairment, distress, or death as a result of the intentional use of physical force and includes acts such as hitting, kicking, pushing, slapping, and burning. This abuse also effects on their mentality. They feel lonely though. If we want to reduce this kind then we have to teach those who do this kind of activities. The government should take proper take care of his citizens and strictly enforce the law.

Then comes Sexual abuse. Sexual abuse involves forced or unwanted sexual interaction of any kind with an older adult. This may include unwanted sexual contact or penetration or non-contact acts such as sexual harassment. It makes me feel so bad that some animals rape old women. Although they are their mother's age. But their mentality is so low, that they cant controls their hormones. Yeah this animals are human beings so called best creatures.

How can I forget about Emotional and Psychological abuse. Emotional or Psychological Abuse refers to verbal or nonverbal behaviors that inflict anguish, mental pain, fear, or distress on an older adult. Examples include humiliation or disrespect, verbal and non-verbal threats, harassment, and geographic or interpersonal isolation. If you feel scared or confused around your partner, or doubt yourself when you’re talking with them, you may be experiencing emotional abuse. An emotional abuser’s goal is to undermine another person’s feelings of self-worth and independence.

Neglect abuse is another abuse. Neglect is the failure to meet an older adult’s basic needs. These needs include food, water, shelter, clothing, hygiene, and essential medical care. Neglect abuse is also 6 varieties. You don't want to cause a fuss. You don't want to make matters worse. It can't really be happening - it's just your imagination. Staff are so busy - things are bound to slip a bit. You don't want to get anyone into trouble. Life is very difficult. But if you respect your elder everything will be gratefully happens.

If you want to live a beautiful life you have to be financially stable. But when a person becomes older day by day. One becomes weak. Even they can’t earn money. They began to financial independent. Financial abuse happens when money or belongings are stolen from an older adult. It can include forging checks, taking someone else's retirement or Social Security benefits, or using a person's credit cards and bank accounts without their permission. It also includes changing names on a will, bank account, life insurance policy, or title to a house without permission.

We have to reduce elder abuse. It’s becoming very hard day by day. We can reduce the risk of elder abuse by putting system is place. We can create society or community support. Every individual has a right to live in peace without fear of neglect or abuse. Don't be afraid to step forward if you feel that a caregiver is overstepping his or her bounds or if a senior in your community may be showing signs of neglect or abuse. We should be more alert about our loved ones, neighbours, family. Even though you are younger in your family, you should learn how to respect others.

Thank you very much 💕. Be safe and yeah respect your elder.
