Say No To Child Labour

Greetings all ye able fans of this blog page. I wanna first of all thanks you all for your continuous support, and for being such a loyal audience. To this, I am very highly grateful. Thank you!

That being said, I would like us to touch on the important issue of child labour, which is a common practice in most part of the world as of today. And, if we must get it abolished, then we must continue to discuss it, and those of us who blog, should continue to write against it at any given opportunity.

According to Wikipedia;

"Child labour refers to the exploitation of children through any form of work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and is mentally, physically, socially or morally harmful."

By this definition, it is not only that child labour prevents a child from getting proper education, it can also harm them mentally, socially, physically or morally. I know most of us are not blessed with the ability to decode the various stated ways through which the practice of child labour is harmful to the kids. For this reason, it is proper to consider them one after the other.

Mentally: parents who send a child on hawking errand, usually don't go about monitoring them. Such a child may decide to know what's like to taste a psychoactive substance (Cannabis), which may harm the child's normal mental health.

Socially: bad company corrupts good manners. By virtue of peer pressure, a child may get badly influenced, and become a hardened criminal.

Physically: in the course of engaging in hawking errands, a child may be accidentally knocked down by a vehicle. Or subjected to other forms of physical abuses like rape, fighting, etc.

Morally: child labour may remould a child and make him morally dead. Someone who's morally dead has a kinda abnormal discerning capacity. Such a person doesn't have a sense of remorse over his callous actions. He may be so hardened that he lacks capacity to differentiate between good and bad, and can never be sorry for their bad actions. Such persons may end up becoming a high rated assassin.

So, no matter how you look at it, the fact is child labour is bad. Parents are meant to work very hard to care for their children, and not the other way round in which it is the children that are doing the hardwork while parents feed out of children's sweat. This is condemnable, and so should be condemned.

What's your position on child labour? Are you for or against it? Use the comment box below and let me know what you think.

Sincerely,
Eurogee Chukwuka
