Learning to speak one language naturally stick to us. When we are born into a family/tribe, we learn whatever language spoken within the vicinity without any formal instructions. It becomes a part of us and we speak it pretty well.

Sometimes, I do wonder how people understand themselves when they speak languages that are different from mine, and forget that I also speak a language that many do not understand, so how come did I understand every bit of my language? It was then it appealed to me that learning to speak and understand your language comes naturally, in as much as you are within the area where it's spoken.

But writing is a different case. It is an activity that is not natural. Before writing is mastered, it must be formally taught and mastered deliberately. The difficulties that emanate from learning how to write are the difficulties in locating the proper writing equivalents for the various feature of speech. Learning how to write can be tasking compared to when we speak.

There is no punctuation or paragraph in speech. We speak freely. It's when it's written down that the punctuation and paragraphing comes into play. This makes people see writing as difficult compared to speech. Writing takes more effort than speech. However, we tend to compose things that are worth the effort we use to capture our words on paper.

When you learn how to talk, you will be always ready to speak and quick in response, but when you practice writing, it makes you exact and help polish and perfect your thoughts.
Any words spoken out cannot be taken back, but if written, can be edited and amended, which gives a writer the avenue to think and reconstruct.

Some prefer writing to speech maybe because of stage fright or lack of confidence, while some, on the other hand, love public speaking.

What some see as 6 shows 9 to others. Writing and speech are the most common ways of interacting, but I think we should rep anyone who learns and master the art of writing because it is not a natural activity like speech.

Which do you prefer?

Thanks for reading. One love.
