The morning routine

I once came across a video of an American army general talking to a young crowd. It was a beautiful, short and very eyeopening speech. Now, we have always heard that to change the world we have to change ourselves. But, bringing change is absolutely tolling and not to mention very uncomfortable.

However, if we go back to the saying that small drops make an ocean, we can start picturing the bigger picture with a plethora of consistent, small actions. To bring change to ourselves for the mega goal of changing the world doesn't require making substantial, uncomfortable and tasking differences to iur own lifestyle, but tiny baby steps will surely get us there.

Building good character takes consistency and patience. With good character comes the discipline to form a positive regime that turns into a habit. The habit will eventually become part of you as a person. And as a whole will bring about small changes. Small changes when acquired in masses will produce bigger changes to the world.

The general spoke of a simple yet effective way to bring about this massive cycle to fruition. He spoke about waking up everyday and making your bed. That's it. Nothing more. But everyday afyer you wake you immediately make your bed. As time pases this becomes a habit and this forces your body to wake and brings discipline to your life. Eventually, it get the cycle of change rolling.

Beautiful.
