Rain... a phenomena which occurs during the water cycle. The natural occurrence which does not hold a grudge but happens regardless of our human effort for most of the time to our benefit. Rain..."showers of blessing", locally said. It replenishes our plants and provides some parts of our world with water.

Rain, the substance which fills our oceans and constitutes a percentage of our rivers and ponds. Rain, the natural occurrence that happens everywhere. It often hides our flaws and often exposes the secrets as well as hides them also. Rain...

When it rains, it pours,
They say as they run and close their doors,
The rain covers the secrets we keep,
Today it uncovers hers, but at a price too steep.

Rain, rain go away, Come again another day,
The children sing and chant as they play,
Rain, rain please come and stay,
She sings with sorrow as she tells her tale.

Sunny days are for kids, the park and fun,
For her it brings torture, abuse and scorn,
Sitting alone under the night sky so black,
Nobody knows what she's holding back,
Pulling her sleeves past the black and blue,
Once these bruises fade they'll come back anew.

Looking up at the clouds full of rain so high,
Sometimes she wishes she could melt into the sky,
Out of her eye drops a single tear,
As she realizes she has to face her worst fear,
The rains are gone,
Here comes the evil touch on her flesh, a thorn.-

At the thought of home she shutters,
And a prayer for help she mutters,
Rain, rain please come and stay,
Keep the company indoors to play,
Her angry father's face shakes in her head,
And her broken heart fills with dread.

The front door creaks as she steps inside,
Jumping over beer bottles she runs to hide,
Prayers that are left unheard,
But the drunk stumps are loud and clear,
Sliding under her bed she tries not to make a sound,
Too late: the floor creaks as she touches the ground.

She tries to hold back the tears, he hits her harder when she cries,
But they slip out as the heavy steps get closer, she's terrified,
The door slams open, the pain is about to come,
Her dad's clothes smell like rum.

A daily routine, but tonight it's not the same,
Tonight the end of the beating never came,
A few hours later the ambulance arrives,
Her life is over at the age of five
The rain covered his crimes,
But it came at a very steep price.
