I Needed a New Wallet and I Made a New One with My Own Hands!

Hello everyone! Here I am with another experiment with the use of leather.
My wallet was disintegrating so I decided to try making one with my own hands!

ITA

Ciao a tutti!

P1560636.jpg

I used two types of skin that were quite thick, maybe even too thick.
One darker brown is 2.5mm thick the other one I used for the interior and has a warmer hue and is softer and more flexible is 2mm thick.

ITA

The most difficult thing was to cut it without smudging, because I have not yet received the roller cutter that I bought and therefore with mine, which is standard, I am forced to go over the same point several times.

ITA

Even making the holes where to pass the waxed thread was complicated because the metal points got stuck and extracting them was extremely difficult.

As you can see I decided to characterize the design with those triangular cuts.
At first it seemed a bit too country western but now that I'm using it I really like it.

My new wallet gives me a great sense of strength and durability.

I think if they shot me and hit my wallet, the bullet wouldn't go through and I'd be safe !! : D

What do you think? Do you like this second attempt?

ITA

Cosa ne pensate? Vi piace questo secondo tentivo?

Thank you, for being the first one I make, I am very satisfied!
Fortunately, at least for now, no one wants to shoot me! 😀

Beautiful work, it looks like you just bought it from a store. It's nice to find another person who likes working with leather.

Thanks, it's very kind of you! If I had the cutter I bought and am waiting for, it would have come even better!

You sound like a perfectionist, and if you are going to do anything, why not do it to the best of your ability.
As they say (the right tool for the right job)

Thanks! Who knows, if the pandemic continues a long time, maybe it will become a small business! 😀

Ah I love it!

Dimentico tutti unfortunamente 😂. Siete anni scorse!

Love when I see people posting in Italian on here! We used to have a really strong community but I don’t think it’s been as lively as it used to be. Hopefully we can change that though!

The wallet here looks awesome. It’s got touched to it that I would swear are things you would see in a store! That’s great. Leather is a challenging material to work with I think but you did a really good job here. Keep it up and you could earn a little money doing it!

😅 I'm sure you enjoyed yourself in Siena! Since you studied in Italy, a little practice is enough to remember and speak Italian better🙂
I'm thinking of making leather key rings ... I'll show you the result😜
