La Serie Mundial, no es más que la parte final de la postemporada en el béisbol de grandes ligas. Es también conocido como el clásico de otoño ya que se juega en el mes de octubre y se disputa entre el campeón de la liga nacional y la liga americana. Se consagrará campeón al ganar de cuatro juegos en una serie de siete. Dicho esto, quiero el día de hoy mostrarle lo que en mi opinión han sido las mejores series mundiales en los últimos 20 años, entiendo que pueden escapar algunas en esta lista es por eso que daré un análisis detallado de cada serie y por qué aparece en mi lista. Recalco que es mi opinión, así que no tengo ningún problema con tu opinión, puedes dejarla en los comentarios, es más, te invito a que comentes en este post alguna serie mundial que recuerdes y compartas algún dato importante de la misma, no importa el año en que se jugó, me gustaría saber tu opinión. Serie mundial 2001 New York – Arizona.

Debido al ataque sufrido en las torres gemelas ese año, la serie se jugó en el mes de noviembre ya que muchos deportes habían postergado sus acciones y el béisbol no era la excepción. Se convirtió en una serie épica y sin duda una de las más emocionantes de todos los tiempos y te diré por qué.

En esta serie hubo suspenso y drama, ya que dos juegos fueron decididos en extra inning (cuarto y quinto juego) mientras que en tres juegos hubo regreso al partido en la última entrada siendo el séptimo juego uno de ellos, la serie termina con un hit de Luis Gonzales en el último inning hazaña que no ocurría desde 1997 cuando Edgar Rentería lo logró jugando con los Marlins de Florida.
Arizona llegaba como la cenicienta de la serie, pero a su vez contaba con la ventaja de iniciar en casa, es decir, abrir la serie como locales ante unos imponentes Yankees de New York quienes de la mano de Joe Torre venían imparables. Un dato interesante de esta serie y que para mí la hace mejor e inmortal, es que Randy Johnson y Curt Schilling compartieron el premio a mejor jugador de la serie (MPV) porque aparte de relevarse uno al otro en el 7mo juego, entre ambos lograron ganar los cuatro juegos y además propinaron 45 ponches a los Yankees en 39 inning y 1/3. Además, el 7mo juego se lo empatan a un tal Mariano Rivera quien termina perdiendo el partido quedando atónito en el montículo mientras Luis Gonzales pisaba la primera almohadilla con un hit que empujaría al home la carrera que les daría el juego y el campeonato.

Séptimo Juego 2001/ seventh game 2001.

Serie Mundial 2011 San Luis – Texas

Lo emocionante de esta serie radica en el 6to juego ya que si en equipo de los Rangers de Texas ganaba este partido se titularían campeones por primera vez en su historia pero un equipo de San Luis contaba con los bates oportunos de Albert Pujols, Lance Berkman y la sorpresa de la serie David Freese, quien en esa serie bateó por encima de 500 y además fue quien decidió este 6to juego con un jonrón para dejar en el terreno al equipo de Texas y obligando un 7mo juego en un escenario de infarto y posteriormente se convertiría por obvias razones en el MVP de la serie ya que los cardenales de San Luis se coronarían campeones mundiales.

Sexto Juego en 2011/Sixth Game in 2011

en la liga americana son los Yankees el equipo con más series mundiales ganadas con 27 mientras que por el lado de la nacional son los mismos cardenales de San Luis con 11. Siendo en 2011 su última conquista.

Serie mundial 2016 Cachorros de Chicago – Indios de Cleveland

Los cachorros llegaban por primera vez desde 1945 al clásico de otoño sin embargo no la ganaban el laurel desde 1908, encima de esto pudieron superar una desventaja en la serie que dominaban los indios 3 juegos a 1. El séptimo juego de esta serie fue uno de los más visto a nivel mundial, solo en estados unidos llegó a tener más de 20 millones de espectadores solo en la cadena fox.
Lo que más me emocionó de este séptimo juego es el suspenso en el noveno inning cuando los cachorros arriba en la pizarra traen a el cerrador estrella del momento Aroldis Chapman que hasta ese momento era temible por su recta a más de 100 millas, pero ya con un hombre en base Rajai Davis conecta un jonrón ante la poderosa recta de Chapman empatando las acciones, entre el público presente se encontraba Lebron James que para el momento jugaba para los Cleveland Cavaliers y fue notable la emoción.

por si fuera poco, el suspenso, llegó al extra inning una lluvia que suspendió el juego momentáneamente. Se abre el telón en la 10ma entrada y allí con un doble de ben zobrist los cachorros anotarían dos carreras que pondría el juego 8 a 6, cerrando el episodio los indios lograron anotar una carrera gracias nuevamente a un indiscutible de Rajai Davis pero que no alcanzaría para empatar el juego. Por lo tanto, los cachorros se coronarían campeones luego de más de 100 años de haber alcanzado esa hazaña.
Al emotivo en este partido es que David Ross se retiraría del béisbol después de este juego y no hubo mejor manera de despedirse, dando un jonrón para la causa y además llevándose un anillo de campeón en su último partido.

Serie mundial 2005 Astros de Houston – Medias blancas de Chicago.

Esta serie la recuerdo mucho y la razón es porque el entonces manager del equipo de chicago Oswaldo Gillén se convertiría en el primer y único manager venezolano en conquistar no una sino dos serie mundial, habiendo hecho lo mismo en 2003 dirigiendo a los marlins de florida, también el venezolano Freddie García sería galardonado e incluso ganando el último juego. Pese a que lo White sox barrieron en 4 juegos a los astros, cada partido de esa serie estuvo llena de suspenso y emoción. Los dos equipos dieron el todo por el todo, los astros dejaron en el camino a los cardenales de san Luis mientras que chicago hizo lo mismo con los angelinos de Anaheim. Pienso que aquí se comenzó a romper esa regla no escrita del béisbol que dicta, “ será el MVP, aquel jugador que haya tenido mejor actuación y desempeño a lo largo de la serie”. Pero en esta serie se le otorgó a Jermaine Dye quien impulsó la carrera para ganar el cuarto encuentro, en mi opinión Joe Crede realmente tuvo una actuación tanto ofensiva como defensiva para el recuerdo.

Cuarto juego/fourth set

Serie mundial 2019 Astros de Houston – Nacionales de Washington

Los nacionales se convertirían en campeones por primera vez en su historia, además fue una serie muy pareja sin embargo hubo algo fuera de lo común en esta serie, y que ambos equipos perdieron la serie en casa, es decir, los nacionales perdieron tres juegos en jugando como home club y lo mismo hicieron los astros perdiendo cuatro juegos en casa. La serie se llevaría a siete encuentros donde el picheo de ambos equipos jugó un papel fundamental y de hecho el MVP de esta serie fue el pitcher Stephen Strasburg, quien ganó dos partidos y ponchó a 14 bateadores. También Anthony Rendon fue esencial, ya que respondió con el bate cuando el equipo más lo necesitó.
Sétimo juego/seventh game
