Después de la doble fecha de eliminatorias suspendida en el pasado mes de marzo, las selecciones suramericanas regresan a competir para saber quién representará a este continente en el próximo mundial, una doble fecha que sirve no solo para dar un paso más en este accidentado camino hacia Qatar, sino que también será usado para afinar a cada uno de estos equipos con la mira puesta en la Copa América a realizarse ahora en Brasil.

Primero, todo el plan descrito se vino abajo cuando la selección venezolana comenzó perdiendo el juego, la defensa tuvo una serie de fallos que termino con el gol de Moreno Martins en tan solo 5 minutos del primer tiempo, el equipo defensivamente no estaba haciendo su trabajo, otra vez la banda izquierda es un problema y se ve que la baja de Machís afectó el plan principal de Peseiro ya que Otero no hace el mismo trabajo del jugador del Granada de España, lo otro fue el usar a Villanueva como lateral izquierdo lo cual no sirvió, este jugador no demostró actitud y se vio superado en la mayoría de las jugadas disputadas; de esa banda vino la peligrosa jugada que después daría pie para la definitiva en dónde Martins anotaría el primer gol, a este le puedo anexar la frágil defensa de Chancellor y lo poco que hizo el portero titular para este encuentro, Graterol para mantener la arquería en cero, un gran fallo defensivo en tan solo el comenzó del encuentro; a pesar de un comienzo no deseado, Venezuela pudo levantar, mostrando actitud y creando ocasiones para el empate, justamente en una jugada a balón parado dió el chance a los visitantes para empatar el juego, Chancellor y Otero quien había fallado en defensa, en esta jugada favorable para su equipo hicieron lo necesario para traer nuevamente la paridad al marcador, Otero por realizar el cobro del tiro libre de forma muy difícil exigiendo al portero boliviano quien no pudo controlar el chute del venezolano y dando chance a Chancellor de poder recoger el rebote y anotar el empate, si ninguna duda que antes del gol y después, la Vinotinto pudo vivir sus mejores momentos en el encuentro.
