Reflecting on my affirmative answers, and others not so correct according to the facilitators of the workshop that I received last week, about the strategies we use to motivate reading in children, both parents and teachers, today I want to share with you different points of view related to this aspect.

I! Personally, I think that we motivate our children, children, youth and students with our own example; If we are not capable of feeling and transmitting the love towards reading, we will hardly see that desire reflected in our children and students.

On the other hand there is a false belief that to read we need a resounding silence, adequate space and a perfect book; then based on this prototype libraries are created, where if you want to take your child or a group of students, they must remain in a state of absolute silence that does not disturb the environment.

And not to mention the books, watch out! Do not open them too much, do not damage it, and some so many prohibitions that at the end of the day, I do not think they help much to motivate reading. By this I do not mean that I am fomenting a student scandal in the library, or the deterioration of the books. Only there is nothing more productive for me than to underline in my book that phrase that impacts or nurtures me.

I present these ideas because at the age of 29 I attended an immense tent, at a book fair in the city of Caracas, everything was joy and emotion, stories, readings, poems, fantastic oral narratives, a brilliant world of readings and more reading; later I attended another book fair that same year in the city of Valencia, because the system of fairs left me fascinated; and guess what! I fell in love with the storytellers.

Wonderful beings full of contagious joy, wise men, magnificent storytellers! and I spent whole days attending the storytelling marathon; and it is not that the thing was a stall from children's stories; no! Not at all, it was impressive as between musical instruments, four, maracas, violin, songs and stories; Children from different schools, together with teachers or representatives, learned about the history and geography of Venezuela, its gastronomy, its climates, the spelling rules, and so on about various topics.

Since then, give up the belief that you need absolute silence to enable the student to acquire meaningful learning.

So I had to attend a reading motivation workshop fifteen days ago in which nobody read anything, we focused entirely on the teacher's responsibility for educational quality; because later in other future meetings we will talk about being a reader. And from there these questions arise:

1.- What is the responsibility of the teacher to achieve educational quality?

The teacher's role must first be a guide to the learning that the child later relates to his daily experiences; considering in turn that each being is different and their channels for acquiring learning vary in each individual. the teacher has various responsibilities such as: stimulate, coordinate, apply and filter institutional values, as well as educational programs, teaching resources, material resources, methodologies; and he is even in charge of the link between school and home.

2.- Por qué los cursos y talleres resultan insuficientes para lograr la transformación de la práctica pedagógica?

2.- Why are the courses and workshops insufficient to achieve the transformation of pedagogical practice?

I personally think that teachers are limited in their practice by: strict schedules, educational changes, little or no feedback on their practice, and little time to prepare for their classes.

Likewise, workshops and courses for teachers do not attend to what is basic for the improvement of the educational practice of the teacher in the classroom, because people learn through precise and common instructions that later bring improvements to a group.

What the teacher really needs is to be able to analyze his educational practice, and in turn improve in collaboration with all his colleagues at the institution, through common work guidelines to follow, and in the same way that he is recognized socially, and professionally when your educational practice is effective

Both parents and teachers must understand that children and young people are motivated to read what they like at the moment, what they want to learn; Hence the primary interest of being that allows it to open the compass for the understanding and appropriation of learning in a meaningful way; of their own interest. Every reading process is important, even if you see that this young man is not reading precisely the latest advance in robotic science; it is you who must in a friendly way show interest in what your student or child is reading and immerse yourself in that world to look for the positive side to that reading fact that is happening.

You must be the first promoter of reading in your home and your educational space if you want to see this passion for books multiplied. School activities as well as Reading should not be implemented as punishment for any mischief; because at that very moment you are turning off all the magic.
