The Granby Triangle, Liverpool

The area was and is an area inhabited mostly by an immigrant community, predominantly from sub-Saharan Africa.

It has also been in former times the hub of the Liverpool hard drugs trade, and a no-go area of the city.

In 1981 the massive Toxteth riots caused the area in general to fall into serious decay, properties abandoned. There is currently massive regeneration taking place in the area. It still remains an area populated by immigrant families, no doubt legal and illegal.

When I was strolling around camera in hand I had several encounters with inquisitive locals, they were warm and friendly. It was a pleasant hour on a warm sunny afternoon.

Enjoy my snaps, cheers

A true sentiment given the area

Quite a poignant hidden message, the legs of the African drummers have become roots; putting down roots in an English park

I see the lion of Africa flanking the Liverpool skyline, the Liver building that sits on the Mersey

So now we shall visit Dulcie Street, a row of abandoned terrace houses

Lots of playful nieve artwork to see

A gate post that has become a one armed bandit fruit machine

Another; Dr Who’s Tradis, a lovely crude bat mobile to the rear.....

Ok, make a wish, but I’m loving the two shirts hung on the wall.
Art?
You bet it is
