Continuing the virtual tour of the sights of St. Petersburg and its surroundings, I suggest that all lovers of antiquity take a look at the exhibition of weapons presented in the Tsarskoye Selo Arsenal, which I visited in early May, during my sabbatical.

A LITTLE HELP:On August 24, 2016, the restored Arsenal pavilion opened for visitors in the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Reserve — it has been in a dilapidated state for more than seventy years. Here is a new exhibition " Tsarskoye Selo Arsenal. The Imperial Collection of Weapons", created jointly with the State Hermitage Museum.
НЕБОЛЬШАЯ СПРАВКА:24 августа 2016 года в музее-заповеднике «Царское Село» открылся для посетителей реставрированный павильон «Арсенал» — больше семидесяти лет он находился в полуразрушенном состоянии. Здесь размещена новая экспозиция «Царскосельский Арсенал. Императорская коллекция оружия», созданная совместно с Государственным Эрмитажем.
It's not as crowded as the other museums. Perhaps the reason is the cool weather, while the museum is located in a remote part of the park and it is not so easy to get here. But inside the building is cozy and warm. Here in the showcases are samples of weapons and ammunition of different time periods, collected in one large collection.
Здесь не так много народу, как в других музеях. Возможно причина в прохладной погоде, в то время как музей находится в отдалённой части парка и сюда не так просто добраться. Но внутри здания уютно и тепло. Здесь в витринах находятся образцы оружия и амуниции разных временных периодов, собранные в одну большую коллекцию.
Looking at all these armor, sabers and pistols, you amazed at how much attention the ancient gunsmiths paid to their craft. Today, any decoration of a modern machine gun would look extremely ridiculous, but in those days, the inlay of any weapon with precious stones, finishing with gold and mother-of-pearl was considered quite common.
Глядя на все эти доспехи, сабли и пистолеты невольно поражаешься тому, сколько внимания уделяли старинные оружейники своему ремеслу. Сегодня любое украшение современного пулемёта выглядело бы крайне нелепо, а в те делёкие времена инкрустация любого оружия драгоцеными камнями, отделка золотом и перламутром считались вполне обычным делом.
In addition to weapons, you can find several models of buildings and dishes in the museum. All this was carefully collected by members of the Romanov royal family and is now available to museum visitors.
Кроме оружия в музее можно встретить несколько макетов зданий и посуду. Всё это было заботливо собрано членами царской семьи Романовых и теперь доступно посетителям музея.
