Planes are terrible on carbon emissions, and hotels require gallons upon gallons of water to do laundry and eating. At the same time, traveling means lots of plastic packaging.

Don’t let this ruin your trip. There are plenty of eco-friendly practices that can help lessen your impact on Mother Earth and ease that traveler’s guilt at the same time.

Green travel is a portable lifestyle choice that has been gaining in popularity in recent years. Travelers realize that they can be responsible consumers while still enjoying the fun and freedom of travel. In fact, nearly 75% of all travelers have plans to make more environmentally conscious decisions when they travel in the next year.

Most travelers already do simple things such as turn off their lights when leaving the hotel or use the towel recycling program. However, there are so many simple and easy ways that guests can be eco-friendly when taking a trip.

Skip the Plane

If you are like most people, dining out is one of the best parts of traveling. If you want to be eco-conscious, try to order as few meat products as you can. A great way to continue to help sustainability is to continue this policy even after your vacation ends.

Bring Your Own Eco-Friendly Products

One of the simplest ways to travel green is to bring along your shower kit, as well as your own reusable bottles. This way, you can skip using all the hotel’s one-time-use plastics. You also have your preferred shampoos and lotions rather than the inexpensive hotel varieties.
