Marmugino. Part 1

Marmugino is a village in the Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region in Russia. It is part of the Oryol rural settlement. The distance by road to the district center is 70 km. There was no permanent population since 2002.

The village is located on the banks of the Yug River not far from the pontoon ferry. There is also a carriageway asphalt road nearby. But the village is still abandoned.

It is strange that people have not lived in Marmugino for about twenty years, but they are trying to keep the houses with all their might. One house is even fenced with barbed wire, and there are iron shutters on the windows.

On the rest of the houses the windows are boarded up with boards. Okay, these would be summer cottages, with beds, with berry bushes, but there is nothing here but grass.

It seems to me that this is due to the large number of gypsies living nearby. They live in the village of Ust-Alekseevo, which is located a few kilometers from here.

It seems that the buildings are scattered throughout the territory, but once everything was ordered.

Perhaps Marmugino became uninhabited due to frequent flooding. After all, the Yug River flows only a few tens of meters from the houses.

The huts here are the most common, there is nothing outstanding in terms of architecture.

Inside, as always: the floors are dismantled, there are no things, bare walls.

The hayloft is cozy.

Some of the houses were difficult to access due to overgrowth.

Each house had its own crane-well.

That was the beauty!

But time and circumstances spare nothing.

Whatever the beauty and whatever the comfortable and cozy place, nothing can resist the circumstances. Any village can be empty.

People often say that time has stopped. On the contrary, I see the influence of time here.
