Phuket Street Art - Part 2 "Hipsters"

**Hello **once again and hope all's good with you. Today we'll continue with our exploration of the local street art here in Phuket town. Phuket's not all just beaches and party. There's some **culture **too... old and new.
Last time in Part 1 the theme was the local girls in the art work. Today we'll focus on the hipster art scene. Over here "hipster" seems to have a good feeling behind it. As I lived in SF and Seattle previously during the time when both were just becoming "hip", hipster wasn't a compliment. Here it just means you're cool... Back in those times and places the term was about trying to be cool but not because of having no original approach. These guys are **original **enough here because they take styles that exist, mix and change them, making the result their own...

The Drawing Room

This is one of the local art galleries in Phuket Town, By far the coolest one as you can see below. I am quite biased though, as the owner, Ids, is a good friend and a remarkable artist. I'll try to get him in an interview for the series coming up on local people in Phuket. For more info Drawing Room Phuket. I didn't feature any of his artwork here specifically but rather outside of his gallery/cafe.

This is a famous photo spot for Thai tourists from Bangkok.

I appreciate the free style and seems as if anyone can tag and paint on the wall here...

In case you need to call Ids or Ghost Busters for that matter. I wonder what the letters are for? FGHP... I grew up with a rotary phone so feel like I missed out on this style...

Thai people love plants no matter the place. The gallery has been here for around 10 years and the cafe just a couple of years at most.

All of the roll down doors are painted by different artists.

Who said disco is dead? Spaceship disco. Who put the P in da Funk?

This one could have a deeper meaning. Considering the situation here I'll just say one could look into hunting and govt official from this particular country. Of course if could just be an animal with a bullet hole in his head as well ;)

Thanks for reading! I hope this brightened your day a bit and if you enjoyed the post....

Haha all a matter of taste. Actually tags and so on aren't my fav but its a bit like secret advertising by the artists of the other bigger works...
