Queen Ifrica & Quique Neira [Music A to Z Challenge #Q]
I hope you're ready for some Reggae tonight, as I bring you one artist from Jamaica and another from Chile for @psos challenge: Music A to Z Challenge #Q! π

- 2 artists starting with the letter Q:
1) Queen Ifrica
Style: Reggae
Country: Jamaica
Ventrice Morgan is the real name of this Reggae singer from Jamaica, who performs under the stage name of Queen Ifrica.
She has released 3 original albums between 2007 and 2019.
The themes of many of her songs are related to social consciousness and justice and she doesn't limit herself to singing about it... she backs up the words in her lyrics with actions by participating in various community activities. π
She has a strong, clean voice and her songs are beautiful and really good, with a lively traditional Reggae beat. It's a bit strange how her name is so little known outside of Jamaica.
Here are a part of the lyrics of the track Serve and Protect, which addresses the theme of police brutality...
Extreme tolerance a fi that we all learn
The people from the gully side, the Gaza strip, the lanes and the tavern
Woulda love fi see the day when every gun burn
Quite a strong message, eh? Here's the official videoclip for Serve and Protect:
2) Quique Neira
Style: Reggae
Country: Chile
Quique Neira comes from Chile and sings Reggae in the Spanish language, which is not very common. His full name is Enrique Neira Leiva.
He has a vast discography, counting with 2 albums as part of the Bambu band, 6 albums while he was playing with the band Gondwana... and another 8 full albums as a solo artist.
This is another artist who likes to talk about the problems of the society where he grew up, addressing themes such as the struggles of the students in Chile to improve the national educational system, as the following song exemplifies so well...
The song is called Un Poquito de Ti (A Little Bit of You) and features the Chilean group Movimiento Original, who play Hip Hop / Reggae.
I hope you have liked these 2 artists. π

That dide must be a fan of Bob Marley. I see it on his shirt and his stlye of music.
I think every Reggae artist looks up to Bob Marley! π―π²
Yeah, you are right. Cause he was the forerunner of reggae music back then. But Lucky Dune is still my favorite.
Good choices for today, I didn't know and I will research more about them.
Thanks for your support and comment. Indeed, these are good artists, if you're into Reggae.
I have good Reggae references. Always good to enjoy good music.
The videos, especially Queen Ifrica's, have added significance in light of current events--in Minneapolis, and the Favelas and indigenous communities of Brazil. Bolsonero tells the poor to work or starve, while the rich protect themselves in walled fortresses.
I didn't understand everything Queen Ifrica said...words were not necessary.
I like these kind of artists... that use their music to pass a message, instead of talking only about barbie dolls and such! π
Thanks for your visit!
You are really digging this challenge. It is interesting. Good conscious reggae tunes you chose there. Yeah Queen Ifrica isn't well known outside of Jamaica but she still has a presence in the Reggae scene globally. Reggae sounds really good in Spanish, Quique Neira has a good voice...I wish I paid more attention to Spanish in school. Great selection man, you could be a Reggae DJ π
Thanks. I'm glad you liked these choices. It's always good when artists use their music to pass a message instead of making frivolous songs about painted nails and butts. π
Ive seen her perform. Great show.
Wow, where was that?
Thanks for stopping by.
