Yes, there are indeed few individuals who are able to break free from that mentality, but not a whole group as you said. I don't see it happening only in the Western world though. Even now, we as Surinamers pride ourselves of how peaceful we are, but in the underbelly people are still divided and the politicians do play on that.

Unfortunately, even students at the university level are doing propaganda in the same way as they see the old politicians do. I've spoken up about it, that a student from a certain faculty wanted to be elected for a seat at the Board of the university and he/she said that he/she will especially fight for those of his/her faculty. I was like "the student representative should be there for ALL students and not just that one faculty". I was a voice crying in the wilderness (roepende in de woestijn). I didn't vote because I didn't agree with how things were handled.

Yea, somehow it would make sense to take the 'human' out of the equation and/or take away human leaders. Blockchains try to do this, but so far not really successful. We learned, not everything can be put into code. Not today at least.

Always a d*rn difficult chose to make with elections: When not agreeing with everything, is it good not to vote? I have a very similar dilema, in a few months we have general elections in my country. I think I should vote, but none of the political parties (those in power, and the opposition) I like to give my vote to. We have something like 20 parties? Maybe even more. Still none of them is good enough to me. I suppose, a luxury problem {LOL}

Hahahahaa I wouldn't say a luxury problem. As a third world country and with the small population here, we have way too many parties. We had elections last year and I myself wasn't sure whether to vote or not or who to vote for. In the end I chose to vote, because I didn't want the then coalition to come back into power. But for now it's same script, different cast.

Regarding the elections for the university board I didn't vote, because I know from experience that it doesn't really matter who is representing the students because once on that seat their hands are "tied". So I think, when making this decision it's the situation that will count. Every situation is different and needs a different approach.

And I know what you mean about the blockchain, IT and everything in code. I know technology is going very fast the last couple of years, but I'm still wondering "where is the threshold, when do we know enough is enough?"

Agree with you regarding elections. Every situation is different and requires a unique approach.

Technology and thresholds. Well, technology developments does not and will never have thresholds. Even when we as societies would want technology advancements to stop, there will always be people developing and inventing, even if this is in the underground. I think a very likely scenario: We'll be reaching singularity sooner or later. We just need the quantum computer (on grand scale) to accelerate computing power super exponential and soon-ish after that, AI will be as intelligent as humans, and after that it'll go even faster. When looking at all this from a positive angle: After singularity, AI will quickly be able to do all our jobs (from production to creative). We humans don't have to work anymore. Yes, we won't have a job anymore. We gained maximum free time, time to spend how we like it, no job obligations anymore. It's gonna be crucial to transform our financial systems and have some form of basic income arranged for all on earth, before this happens. And we have to make sure that technology is in public hands. Same goes for earth resources, usage and distribution. Three small things to arrange. Can't be too difficult 😉 🤣

Indeed, technology and its advancements and research of course will not stop.
That future sounds fun and all, but I do have doubts. Sounds too good to be true, because there are outliers. But I am with u on that technology, earth resources, usage and distribution should be in public hands.

Have you seen the series Westworld? It's a futuristic world where a lot of mankind is also pre-determined by AI technology. Your description made me think of that series.
