I am slowly preparing myself for a cactus season. Some of my spiky friends are screaming at me already that they want to grow and bloom and they are so ready (more about that in another post soon). I dunno why they are in such a hurry…Powoli przygotowuję się do sezonu kaktusowego. Niektóre z moich kolczastych podopiecznych już krzyczą że chcą rosnąć i kwitnąć (więcej o nich w kolejnym poście). Jakoś im spieszno w tym roku…
So instead of checking up on the pots I opened a folder with blooms from previous seasons and I saw this one - Rebutia hybrid.A ja zamiast zacząć robić przegląd roślin po zimie, postanowiłam pooglądać zdjęcia kwitnień z poprzednich lat. No i znalazłam tą tu Rebucję hybrydę.

The poor thing is in cactus heaven already. I had it for one season as one of the first ones after I decided to grow them outside. It was also one of the first that decided to blooms for me. So beautifully with multiple flowers.Bidulka jest już w kaktusowym raju. Miałam ją przez jeden sezon i była jednym z pierwszych kaktusów, które wylądowały na balkonie po tym jak postanowiłam je hodować na świeżym powietrzu. Była pierwszym kaktusem jaki mi tam zakwitł z wianuszkiem cudnych kwiatów.
And sadly it was also one of the first that died that year. I can only guess what could be cause. I could either way overwater it, since I saw it shrinking a bit and since it was growing in a clay pot, the soil (theoretically) should dry up faster, while she could be shrinking cause the roots already rotted off. Or i still didn't water it enough and it slowly dried up. But I see now on the photos that it was stressed and more red that it should. Now I know it. Then I didn't.No i niestety byłam też jednym z pierwszych balkonowców przeze mnie ukatrupionych. Do tej pory mogę tylko się domyślać co było przyczyną. Albo ją przelałam myśląc, że nie ma dostatecznej ilości wody skoro rośnie w glinianej doniczce (a teoretycznie ziemia w glinianych doniczkach wysycha dużo szybciej). Albo nadal podlewałam ją za mało i po prostu usycha z pragnienia. Teraz na zdjęciach widzę, że już podczas kwitnienia była zestresowana i czerwona bardziej niż powinna. Teraz to wiem. Wtedy myślałam, że tak ma być.

Piękne te kaktusiki 😍 Moim małym marzeniem jest mieć takiego, ale z moim talentem to nawet kaktusa ukatrupię 😂

Ja kiedyś zapomniałem o jednym kaktusie na dłuższy czas. I zdawało mi się, że usechł. Ale podlałem i zmartwychwstał. Nie jest łatwo ukatrupić kaktusa w warunkach pokojowych.

Najszybciej utrupić to można właśnie przelaniem. Bo o ile suszę zniosą, tylko się skurczą trochę, to przy za dużej ilosci wody po protu zgniją i tyle.

O! To również mógł być problem, bo często nalewałam dużo wody w przeświadczeniu, że jest im potrzebna. Często zapominam o tym, że mam do czynienia z sukulentami 🤦🏼‍♀️

What a beautiful collection of images that you show us, if I had to say which is the most beautiful I would not know how to say

I've been wanting to grow cacti and succulents for a long time, but I don't know anything about them, and the little that I read agrees with what you say, the land must drain very well, it cannot have excess water, much less lack

You can start with anything that you can get in flower shops and supermarkets :) Those are usually easier to grow.
Give them light, but be careful with direct sunlight, and don't overwater. They will be fine.

I made contact with a nursery that offers me more than 50 varieties between cacti and succulents. I am thinking of starting with that in my garden.

I have a space that is protected by a half shadow, I think that can work.
