Double joy - Aylostera Flavistyla
I had two small green balls once hat I planted in one pot. They grew and grew and bloomed and then I repotted them to separate pots last year.
I decided to keep them in different spot to see which one will grow better. One skipped blooming completely, the other one had just two flowers. Later on I got a seed pod too and the sowed what I got. I have few tiny babies growing too. I will keep them in one pot to get a nice bush of flowers when they are ready to bloom.
This year they both bloomed, even though they still have slightly different conditions.

It is a small cactus native to Bolivia. With time it is will grow to a nice clump - mine doesnt show any sigh of that yet though.
The flowers grow from the bottom of the plant are very bright orange and stay open for a few days. They bloom only once a ear in spring. After that the plant will grow and get ready for the next season.
As I mentioned I did get some seeds last year. I just don't know if they self pollinate, or some cross happened as I do normally have other cacti in bloom in the same time. It will take at lest two more years to see some flowers. If I don't kill them until them that is.
Here are both plants. The one on the left in a round pot gets more sun. The flowers are smaller and have sshorted stem.
The one on the right is more shaded - the flowers is longer and slightly bigger.
Both plants grew few buds this year.
They will need a bigger pot for next year. I will keep them as they are this season so they are not dusturbed and before next spring I will repot them to something bigger.

Dziekuje :)
They are beautiful, I don't think I've ever seen cactus flowers so large and showy. You take good care of them!
Thank you! And they are still not the largest. Quite small actually.
Some cacti have flowers larger than a hand!
Not gonna lie... I've never really understood peoples' love for cacti. But, you always posting these awesome pictures of them is kind of helping me get it. I never really think of them as having flowers. Seems kind of weird that these flowers grow from the bottom of the plant. Beautiful shots and very cool information!
I have another reason to like them - I always enjoyed plants and now I can only grow them on the balcony. In summer it gets so hot that whatever I tried to grow, simply dies on me ad looks very miserable. They handle it well :)
Also they don't take too much space and are quite forgiving.
I am glad you enjoy the posts :)
Beautiful orange flowers!
Thank you!
My favorite color. 🙀😂😂🐈🐈
It's nice how such a plain plant as cactus at a first sight, can produce so many different and beautiful blossoms :)
The are full of surprises :)
Beautiful cactus flowers.
Thank you :)
Sorry!! That 35% was a mistake, meant to give 100%... stupid slider 😁
I love your cactus bloom pics!! You must have quite the collection of plants..
Hah no worries and thank you! :)
Yea... I need more space. MORE space!
Four more years and you'll be a Crypto millionaire and you'll have all the space you'll ever need!
Promise? :D
I really love your 🌵 photos, but as I am really a novice, I wonder if they should be in the shade or light, because I don't want to become a cactus killer haha, I'm trying to learn from you.
Thank you! :)
Hahaha every cactus grower is a cactus killer :D
I have killed so many I don't even want to count.
The safest is always dappled sun. They don't usually enjoy full sun all day long (well.. most anyway). Or some morning sun and then bright shade.
Everyone has different conditions and with time you will learn what is good for them. What for me is light shade, for you might be too dark. When they don't get enough light/sun they will grow deformed, they will stretch in search for the light.
If the sun is too strong, they will get sunburn - easy as that :) Some cacti are tougher than others too and will like more sunny spot. Or at least will not complain as much.
That's why it is good to know the name and check online what their natural conditions are. It is always helpful.
