Onboarding and Engagement Thoughts

I had a very interesting day yesterday, from my early morning long walk till the awesome live stream interview/chat on Twitter with @nathanmars, where we have discussed some interesting things about the Hive blockchain and exchanged ideas on how can we make it better... Nathan's idea is to make these "interviews" with Hive members and check the pulse of the community...

We were chatting about stuff from the past blockchain, and we have also touched some expectations for the future... Or better said, how to make that future better... If you follow my channel, you already know that I'm all for planning and for doing things TODAY to "secure" the tomorrow...

One of the questions was how can we push the Hive price up to (and over $1), and how to make Hive better... We touch the most talked problem as "onboarding", but also the problem of engagement on the platform... Feel that new people get when they come to the platform... How to keep them motivated, how to offer them guiding hand, and help when they most need it...

Please check out the video for more info...

In the end, I would like to make an update of my current numbers (July 15th, 2020) on #MyHiveGoals:

HIVE POWER - 14,017 / 20,000 70.08%
CTP POWER - 110,056 / 150,000 73.37%
HIVE Followers - 260 / 333 78.07%
LBRY Followers - 936 / 1,500 62.40%

It looks that I have to push more with my HP, as the % isn't going up as I have imagined... :) LBRY followers number is also slowed down, probably because of the lower price of the LBC token and fewer visitors in general, but we will see at the end of the month... But, it's still around 4% more for the last 15 days, which is OK...

Join us in this awesome #MyHiveGoals and let's grow together! You can find the original post about the challenge by @robwillmann here: https://peakd.com/myhivegoals/@robwillmann/new-challenge-myhivegoals-set-and-achieve-your-goals

This will be govern by market sentiments. I really found something interesting to read, not related to hive,

Yes, the market will decide, but we can do something about things that we "can control", like user experience, engagement, marketing, etc...

And it's an interesting article that you have posted... ChainLink is everywhere, and I do think that we are at the end of the "standard centralized social networks", and it is a time for changes... ;)

Awesome post, Zoltan. I was fortunate enough to see that live interview with @nathanmars & it was a very good one, indeed. :)

Yes, engagement is CRUCIAL in order to grow our community & thrive on the blockchain. As you said, we each only need to comment on 2 to 3 posts a day to keep consistent. A lot of us do more than that automatically, but when one is first starts out, that's a good way to ease into it. For me, it's like second nature now. It also expands awareness of who we each are. We become faces and REAL people, not just statistics.

Thanks so much for an awesome video as always. I learn so much from you & you continue to inspire me! 💛

Exactly, we are not just NUMBERS, we are more than that... Faces with body, mind, and passions! As soon as people realize that, better... They will like that feeling and get hooked!

This is an awesome platform with awesome powerful people! And we welcome everyone to join and start creating, engaging, learning us new things, and learning stuff from us!

Thanks for your time and comment! Appreciate your support!

If there is no engagement, it feels like you are alone. Maybe you think that no one reads your post or watches your videos. Sometimes making comments is just a way to let content creators know you read/watch his/her content.

Of course, you are not alone. We are all in this together. :)

Exactly! And we have to at least comment on the posts of the newcomers in our community! As that is the only, and the best way, to show that we care about them and they will feel more welcomed!

Thanks for the comment!

Nice post and interesting interview with @nathanmars. I quite agree with you about the phase that comes after onboarding. How many posts will somebody write and get zero comments before stopping his journey? I believe that we can't ask beginners to understand how everything works and to interact with others. If there is nobody showing the way in terms of engagement, how will they know how to behave?

You can put so much effort in onboarding but if there is no culuture of paying attention to others, this will have zero effects. I believe that the culuture in the ctp tribe is developped much more than anywhere else. We have some people that show the way here and everybody takes part and engages. We have to develop this culture even more...

Agree! Engagement culture should be one of the main topics! And not just that... People forgot to be grateful, polite, respectable... It's time to push those things more!

Thanks for the comment, Achim! Always a pleasure reading them!

I'm also thinking of playing my part in empower engagement in our HIVE.

From today I'm planning to only post content on Sunday so I've more time to comment on others post.

90% my time spend on Twitter to bring huge value to HIVE in the long-term.

Honestly I regret that it has become so difficult to reward people for giving comments. I've found a way to do it with tribe upvotes (ctp, leo) with specialised accounts. Like that I can reward people for giving comments. I believe this is paramount to help the culuture evolve and to make engagement more interesting.

Engagemnet is the foundation of social media platforms more than content creation.

I think 3Speak and LEO has an inbuilt system that incentives engagement.
