Part 1 of 2 What do the Bread and Wine in the Holy Communion symbolize?
Spiritual Meaning of the bread and wine in the holy communion
John 6:50, KJV: "This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die."
The Bread 🥪 in the holy communion is a physical representation of the spiritual ritual of reaffirming you faith into the body of Jesus, his death and resurrection which is the bread according to John 6:50 is the bread the come from heaven. And the wine is the physical representation of the blood of Jesus Christ which washes away sin as part of the new covenant.
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Matthew 26:27-28 KJV
Luke 22:19 He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
This practice stated in this verse even though it projects to the spiritual meaning and implication but this are physical practices and I think people who practice this things are not far from the truth
