Genesis 2:16-17 KJV
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: [17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
From the Bible verses above, we can see that God gave Adam a choice to eat from the tree or not. God also told him the consequences of eating from the tree.
God gave Adam the power to choose. At the same time, our God is a loving God and He is concern about us. That was why He told Adam the consequence to serve as warning to him.
