(Edited)

The bible study started by giving answers to the questions that was asked in the last session. Which were:

  • Are Christians suppose to pay tithe ? Asked by Brother Ziinu Barry
  • What is the right way to speak in tongues ? Asked by Brother Olawalium

The charge started by responding to the first question.
Here is my video

The word of God holds no contradiction to itself.
Malachi 3:7-10 and 2 corin 9:7 as regarding to tithing does not contradict themselves.

Proverbs 8:7-8
7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

Gods word is pure, tested and perfect. God word does not lie.

Psalm 12:6
King James Version
6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

The commandment of God in malachi 3:7-10, was to the Israelites and not for the Christian dispensation. While that of 2 corinthians 9:8 was meant for the present day Christian as given to us by God through the apostles.

The new testament is the new covenant and does not fault the old testament, rather can be known to be an upgrade of the old.
Remember Gods words are new everyday.

So the present day Christians are to tithe from their heart and not a stipulated amount as given to the Israelite in the old.

Secondly, in addition to the second question, a sister from Ghana also asked a question:

Is it important for us to speak in tongues ?
Is it true that if we don't speak in tongues, we don't have the Holy Spirit ?.
From the charge, it is not true that if we don't speak in tongues, we don't have the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:13
King James Version
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

So when we come to repentance, receive Christ and are baptized, believing in the doctrines of God, the Holy Spirit will be in us.

So speaking in tongues should not be a measure to show if we have the Holy Spirit in us or not.

John 1:12
King James Version
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

The power in this context comes from the Holy Spirit, so once we believe, we will automatically have the Spirit in us.

Speaking in tongues should be to edify the church, therefore, they must be an interpreter if not it is of not essence to speak in tongues.
Just like the apostles in the upper, as they spoke in tongues, people passing heard their language and was able to understood. It to give hope and edify the church of God.

But we should note that without love, our tongues is null and void.

1 Corinthians 13:1
King James Version
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Thank you for reading.
