(English versión below)

Saludos Hivers,

What Do You Believe Is The Highest Form Of Self Love and Why Do You Believe So?

Today I am writing this post to answer this interesting question posed by @abundance.tribe in his "Biweekly Question", which invites us to reflect on a question that holds great existential value.

Many things occurred to me while I was reflecting on this question, and among them, the following answer had the most weight:

be Yourself.png

I think it is the highest form of Love because it requires a lot of self-love to accept yourself as you are, with your virtues and defects, with all your history ... with your successes and failures, and at the same time because from that acceptance and love for yourself, you understand that you are above anything else.

I am not saying this from an egocentric position, but sometimes we give in to the interest of others to do things, we behave in a certain way just to fit in or get along with others and we do not realize that we sacrifice our Self in that situation, we neglect our own desires or interests to please others and in some cases, we could even see our values compromised.

On the other hand, we cannot give to others what we lack, if we do not have love for ourselves, we will not have it for others either, it would be in any case what I call a "false love", because it moves according to the attention of the demands of the other.

Many biblical passages highlight as an important commandment and guide of life the message of Jesus Christ of "Love your neighbor as yourself " and this starts from the truth of cultivating our inner self to be able to offer the best of ourselves to the world and also from the care and respect of ourselves.

I think that self-care as an expression of love towards ourselves, should focus on all aspects, starting with honoring our body as the sacred temple it is, taking care of our nutrition and not abusing it beyond its possibilities. It also has to do with listening and attending to what we feel, being available to attend to ourselves and being congruent with our emotions and thoughts.

Amor a sí mismo dalai lama inglés.png

The experience of Love begins with an inner experience and this requires "knowing oneself"; we all seek to love and be loved, and the ideal would be to share that love for who we really are.

But how could you give and receive Love if you do not know clearly who you are?, this seems the most logical way, however we strive to build walls, big walls and barriers around our heart, we try to protect everything that is inside not to expose it to the light for fear of being hurt? Or maybe because of all those insecurities that could lead us to think that we will not be accepted as we are?

Lifting those barriers, embracing our shadows without judging ourselves, taking care of ourselves and aiming to be our best version every day will lead us to that self-knowledge that we need so much to empower ourselves and have the courage to BE OURSELVES.

That is why loving ourselves from that inner knowledge, and having the courage to Be and show ourselves as we are is for me the greatest expression of Love.

Nocse te ipsum.

«Conócete a ti mismo»

Me encanto.
