Coindesk Gets YouTube Channel Wiped Out: Time To Stop The Hypocrisy

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

It seems the cycle is starting again. Coindesk violated YouTube's terms of service and had their account wiped out. They took to Twitter to garner attention.

How long are we going to allow this to take place?

These people are willing to talk and write about blockchain and decentralized applications yet do not use them. They discuss how it is going to change the world.

In this video I discuss how we have viable options now and it is time to start calling these sites and influencers out. The fact is they are not providing any network effort to this movement. Instead they are feeding the big tech social media, showing their support for YouTube and others while ignoring the blockchain apps.

With 3Speak, Peakd, and the coming ProjectBlank, we have a nice social media package for people to use in addition to their other social media activities.

The fact is that the blockchain is an industry on it's own which is totally here to stay and no social media platforms can overcome the blockchain industry....we have so many awesome blockchain apps that will definitely do better than those so called social media apps...

LOL I am glad you like that.

Might be too harsh for many people so they might have to cater to their personalities.

Facts are facts. I agree though. May not be the best approach for everyone. Me, on the other hand? I'm a prick so this is right up my alley. :-)

The beginning of the end of centralized platforms. The writing is already on the wall.

I would say so. Twitter started with the pay for tweets idea; not sure how that will work out.

ProjectBlank will be released at the ideal time. We are going to really be able to make Hive thrive with that one.

A lot of activity will occur over the first few months. That will really send things into another gear.

The excitement is building. We will see how it grows once it is released.

Hopefully they get the bugs out of it before it is released. We will see what the schedule looks like.

It's time to start leaving more comments on the Youtube videos, they should at least use Hive as a backup. If they are getting banned left and right your right, they are idiots for not utilizing Hive!

Especially if you have years of videos uploaded to YouTube and no back up.

It is absurd that they put things at risk like they do especially those who know about crypto and blockchain.

every time i see an crypto "influencer" complaining about censorship and he did nothing to move his audience on decentralized networks i get a bit triggered.

@bil.prag honestly I consider such influencer as an individual that is not serious about what he or she is doing...

i do get why are they using youtube and all of the other but not making an account and try to move your followers somewhere where they can't ban you is just stupid. Especially stupid if you are in that world and you understand how it works.

@taskmaster4450 I even prefer threespeak to YouTube because on 3speak I tend to see videos that talks about topics that I am actually interested in and it enables me to watch interesting videos from people who have the same passion and goals like mine ...

There are many dapps that offers better content than the so called popular social media platforms that gained their popularity through hyping and not necessarily because of great contents....

I agree. There are advantages to some of what we have developing outside just the reward system.

We are looking at offerings that are building in value in addition to the Web 3.0 features.

It is a basis to build off of.

Part of the problem is user experience. Despite all its flaws, you can be a complete idiot and still use youtube. Videos upload as quick as your connection and are ready pretty much instantly. Meanwhile on 3speak I've been waiting 2 days for a video to encode. This seems to happen about 20% of the time. I gave up and posted it another way. Decentralized is better but right now it is still harder and less reliable and that makes a world of difference when it comes to adoption. Then there's the massive existing community that's on youtube. Post to 3speak or bitchute or wherever all day long and you're not going to come close to as many eyes on what you post as on youtube.

Personally, I'm done with youtube. But I understand why people still use it.

You have good points there....

I think the management of 3speak should work on that part because such delay will discourage alot of people from using the platform,we all want a fast and effective platform and that is why they need to work more on the delay that is happening whenever they are trying to encode a video, the fast uploads is one of the things that made youtube to become popular today,so 3speak needs to work on their features if they want to be great too....

My feelings exactly!

In fact, I've been at it for almost four years already. It appears I've been too early. Back in the day, I'd been telling to my friends that they should get on Steem so that we could chew our shit there instead of Facebook.

And what did these people do?

To my utter shock, these people who I had respected for their brains turned my suggestion down, offering what amounted to blank stares or reasons that made zero sense.

Platforms like Facebook, Twitter and the like have held enormous power over the minds of their user bases. That's because of the sheer size of their user bases and the fact that most people have a herd mentality. Even the smart ones tend to be just as programmed as the rest. That's because the programming takes place on a much lower level than the intellect.

But recently, we have begun to see chinks in the armor. These platforms are succumbing to classic hubris. Their so drunk from their power that they think they can get away with zapping the account of whoever they want.

A larger conversation about censorship has begun. I'm seeing the tiny glimmers of light of understanding.

But we need help from the giants. I want them to go overboard with censoring people and entities. The so-called crypto influencers deserve to get all wiped out from mainstream channels.

And yes, you're right about us needing to go to every influencer who cries about losing their account and tell'em they should've at least backed up content on Hive.

I also agree on the Hive ecosystem beginning to be able to offer the complete package for anyone who wants to be secure in knowing that they can't be canceled.

I agree. The major platforms are providing the taking points for us. They are getting too arrogant, stepping on whomever they want to. If that was a traditional business, we would think them crazy for upsetting their customer base.

As for the size differential, we need to keep growing to make our offering more appealing. Since we will lack the size for a while, the key is to be able to give all social media under one umbrella.

One account gives one full social media capabilities.

Yeah they should all come together and stay in a save environment like leofinance and hive platforms....at least no one will be frustrating them all in the name of "censorship"...

..

This is the link to the post here...

It seems maybe many of these social media apps are not happy with the growth of wonderful blockchain and crypto platforms like coinbase etc...coinbase should focus on many blockchain apps that are really doing well and help them achieve even better goals....

@havevo It's not that social media apps are not happy or not...they just have their own rules and standards even though it might hurt the other brand or person or investor....so that is why we need to embrace the blockchain industry which welcomes us all without some kind of restrictions that limits us ...so that is why we all need to embrace the blockchain technology and great things that it will offer us....

There are too many stories of crypto based channels are wiped out. Will cryptocurrency users still rely on centralized social media? Think pragmatism the new project of social media crypto should be ten times better than centralized so there will be massive users register the platform.

Sadly people prefer to use the easiest and most well known platforms. There is no reason why these Youtube Content creator doesn't upload their videos to other platforms. I am sure there are some scripts and easy to automate things that people have made to copy and move them over. The best thing they could do is to use decentralized platforms but I understand we are still in the growing stages.

I noticed a number of crypto video podcasters and bloggers disappearing from LBRY recently. Ivan on Tech is the most noticeable example, which happened shortly after he had ended his regular daily broadcasts (via Twitch) and now (March 1st 2021) broadcasts almost exclusively on Youtube. I mean, these are the people that should know better.

Summary:
In this video, the speaker addresses the concept of "crypto-hypocrisy", pointing out inconsistencies in the behavior of individuals and companies in the cryptocurrency space. The focus is on calling out those who discuss and promote cryptocurrency and blockchain technology but do not actively participate in decentralized platforms like Hive. The speaker emphasizes the need for influencers and content creators to support decentralized applications to strengthen the network effect and promote the growth of the blockchain community. Expressing frustration with the reliance on centralized platforms like YouTube and Twitter, the speaker advocates for a shift towards decentralized platforms for content creation and engagement.

Detailed Article:
The video delves into the phenomenon of crypto-hypocrisy, highlighting the actions of various entities within the cryptocurrency space. The speaker starts by referencing an incident where Coindesk violated YouTube's Terms of Service, leading to the suspension of their account. This event serves as a springboard for a broader discussion on the importance of using decentralized platforms in the crypto industry.

The speaker criticizes individuals and companies who discuss and invest in cryptocurrencies but fail to actively engage with blockchain technology. This discrepancy between words and actions is termed as crypto-hypocrisy. The focus is on influencers and content creators who leverage centralized social media platforms like YouTube and Twitter instead of embracing decentralized alternatives like Hive, 3Speak, Library, or BitChute.

Furthermore, the speaker questions the intentions of those who only talk about cryptocurrency and blockchain without actively participating in decentralized applications. The argument is made that by promoting content on centralized platforms, individuals are inadvertently supporting the very systems they criticize. The speaker advocates for a more active involvement in decentralized platforms to foster community growth and network effects.

Moreover, the narrative underscores the potential benefits of utilizing decentralized platforms, such as Hive, for content creation and engagement. The speaker encourages a shift in mindset towards embracing decentralized applications to create a more robust and independent ecosystem within the cryptocurrency space.

In conclusion, the video serves as a call to action for individuals and companies in the crypto space to align their actions with their rhetoric. By actively participating in decentralized platforms and promoting blockchain technology, the speaker argues that the community can collectively strengthen its presence and influence within the industry.
