The Push Towards Decentralization Outside Of Cryptocurrency

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

With the world of crypto, we often discuss decentralization. This is a core part of this industry. However, this is not the only area we see this move taking place.

In this video I discuss some of the larger scale trends taking place which are all pushing things outwards away from a centralized model.

I feel that decentralization is well implemented in software development where now there are rather flat organizations with agile teams working around the clock, similar to communities. This proved to be more efficient and more manageable being focused in smaller groups.

Summary:
In this video, Task talks about the trend towards decentralization outside of cryptocurrency. He emphasizes that decentralization is not just limited to the crypto space but is happening on a broader scale across various aspects of society. Task discusses decentralization in politics, manufacturing, the internet, edge computing, work structures, and the impact on major cities. He highlights how the shift towards decentralization is influencing global dynamics and power structures.

Detailed Article:
The video starts with Task highlighting the trend towards decentralization beyond cryptocurrency. He points out that while the crypto community often focuses on decentralization, it is crucial to recognize that decentralization is a broader phenomenon impacting various sectors of society.

  1. Political Decentralization:
Task discusses political events like Johnson in Britain, Trump in the United States, and Brexit, noting the rise of nationalism and populism against globalism. He mentions how these movements reflect an anti-globalist sentiment and a push for decentralization in governance.

  2. Manufacturing and Supply Chains:
Task elaborates on the decentralization of manufacturing, particularly the shift of businesses from China to Southeast Asia due to rising costs. He also discusses the impact of COVID-19 on supply chains, prompting companies to diversify and decentralize their manufacturing processes.

  3. Decentralization in the Internet:
Task dives into the realm of the internet, mentioning advancements like quantum internet for secure communication and decentralized protocols like those developed by versus.io. He introduces the concept of the spadial web, a three-dimensional internet experience that could revolutionize how we interact with digital content.

  4. Edge Computing and AI:
The discussion moves to edge computing and AI, highlighting the shift towards local processing to enhance data privacy and minimize latency. Task mentions the potential decentralization of AI as devices become more powerful, enabling localized decision-making, especially in applications like autonomous vehicles.

  5. Remote Work and City Dynamics:
Task touches on the decentralization of work structures, noting the exodus from major cities due to increased remote work opportunities. He predicts a shift in power structures as white-collar companies no longer require a centralized physical presence, leading to potential changes in urban dynamics.

  6. Anti-Globalization and EU Dynamics:
Task reflects on the anti-globalization sentiment and the challenges faced by centralized entities like the EU. He predicts potential exits of countries from the EU due to dissatisfaction with centralized structures and underscores the importance of horizontal decentralization for maintaining freedom.

Task concludes by emphasizing that decentralization is a fundamental shift towards horizontal structures and freedom, extending beyond the realms of cryptocurrency and blockchain. He underscores the significance of this trend on a larger societal scale and encourages viewers to recognize the broader implications of decentralization.
